EchoFiveMike
It figures the moment I buy premium I get teamed up with nothing but morons. I'm getting two and three kills but wind up at the end vs four or five heavies. S/F.....Ken M
Fritz
I had the easiest time so far with a 35(t). Then I got a 38(t) and all of a sudden I was in a completely different league, with T-34s and Pz IVs... Back to Pz II, just researched Pz III, now I have to save some cash and buy one. I think I'll do the standard tree to Panther.

S/F.....Ken M The nice thing is at least with premium you still have a chance to make some decent money and xp, even when you get the moron bum rush to fail town. I keep a pzjgr 1 around just because it's nice to play the occasional game where the heaviest tank you have to face is a t-46 and artillery is rarely seen. The match maker still needs some work. Last night I was in a game with my t-44 where the opposing side had 5 Tiger IIs and a couple KV3s, we had an IS7, a jagdtiger and some KVs and ISs. At least it was over fairly quickly, and I managed to spot and damage enough stuff before I went up in flames that I got 500xp and only lost 1 or 2k after repairs and ammo. EchoFiveMike
They really really need to fix the ballistics. 75mm Gerlich vs T44 side at 25m should shoot through the damned thing. They really need to stop with the 14YO geek think and add just a little realism. Someone needs to clue them in(probably with the Clue Bat) that once you punch a hole into a tank with KE, very bad shit happens really really fast. I can't wait for the modders to get at it. S/F....Ken M Oh, but something does happen. My gunner proclaims "THAT ONE WENT RIGHT THROUGH!" I really wish he'd tell them that, because they're still shooting at me, while on the move. There is a lot of combat flight simulation/BF1942 think in the game that demands constant action to maintain a sustainable attention span for the kids. Too often, no one else wants to consider defense (especially when terrain really favors it) and everyone runs off to a gunfight and the base gets swarmed. I've been there laying dog and gotten hit by four tanks that took their time to get there in a coordinated fashion. It sucks to sit there, out-of-body dead, and watch the base overrun because everyone else is wandering around looking for a rumble. What is involved in "buying premium"? EchoFiveMike
250 gold per day, discount for longer buy, nets you 50% for exp and credits. Makes sense once you start getting to Pz4 level or so, instead of converting gold into credits. Also upping some of the crew to pro level is worth it also. S/F.....Ken M Is there a way I can get more gold? I only see a one-way conversion of gold-experience and I never seem to accumulate more than ~500 gold dubloons as I gotta' pay for ammo and repairing damage thoughtlessly inflicted on me by inconsiderate bad guys. Usually I hover around 400 pieces of eight after buying boo-lets.
EchoFiveMike
Not that I'm aware of. You get 150/day. I don't convert gold into credits, I save it for payouts that only take gold. Max trained crew and premium buy in. S/F.....Ken M
Harold Jones
2500 (so save up for 19 days) gold will get you a month of premium, I highly recommend it. The game does suffer from an anti-defense mentality in the players. In fact people will rage on you in chat for 'camping' instead of fighting like a man or some such thing. Of course that being what TDs are supposed to do, sort of escapes their view point. I think defense will become much more appreciated when they finally get around to releasing clan wars (giving clans the ability to take and hold territory on a campaign map)until then it will mostly be a game of swirling tank dog fights punctuated with explosions of profanity directed against the artillery players. Also, in the higher tier battles holding the base is basically meaningless because 99% of the time the players will disregard the base in order to completely kill the other side. The common belief is that killing the other side awards more xp than a base capture. I actually had a guy on my own side drive up and shoot my tank to stop me from capping the base so that he could hunt down the last tank on the other side. Fritz
I've gotten way better at the lowest tier with the fully upgraded Pz II A. One battle I had 3 kills, spotted like half the enemy force and damaged 5-6 tanks as well. Now I got a Pz III A... starting from scratch again
demosthenes
I'm done with this game. It's just a grindfest up the heavy tank ladder. I'm no longer even having fun.
Colin
Just joined today as ColinP, got a few kills in my MS-1, upgraded to 45mm, best to sit still and wait for them to pass you and shoot up their ass, those BT-2 are friggin fast though. Fritz
I entered a grinding phase, almost fully upgraded Pz IIIA going for the medium Pz III... it will take days to get all the experience and my tank really sucks compared to everything else in the battles I get put in. On the other hand with my Pz II A I had five kills in one battle today.
Colin
The upgraded PZII and BT2's really rule the light tank battlefield.
Fritz
Yeah, with the maxed out Pz II A you can just run circles around everybody and the burst fire 20mm means you hit a lot more often compared to other tanks with bigger but slower firing guns, while on the move. Colin
I find it helps to invest in some APDS for the 45mm, tonite I will try the effect of the HE. With the MS-1 you need to lay in wait and shoot them on the flanks, generally you get two shots in before they find you.
Fritz
... I find I have the best time with the otherwise sucky Pz III A if I actually use it as a light tank (which it is classified as) - for deep flanking attacks and never ever stopping, fire with HE on the move. The grind isn't really that bad if I do this. I need ~1200 more exp. to get to the Pz III proper... that's 2-3 games where I do good AND my team wins (it's kinda stupid that you get more exp if your team wins even if you died in the very beginning of the battle and didn't contribute at all; or conversely you had 2-3 kills and your team still lost). Or 10 games if I do bad.
Phalanx
I'm assuming that's meant to be an incentive to prevent everyone from kamikaze runs and to actually play smart... It doesn't seem to happen that often, though.

It doesn't seem to happen that often, though. Amen. I've also found that being a bushwhackin' backshooter might not make one attractive for the dime novel market, but it's a good way to get the other guy and live to tell the tale. That's exactly how I racked up enough xp with the Pz III A. I just got a Pz III medium. Feels good to have some armour but the second battle lag killed me... Phalanx
I've gone back to playing with the A-20 for awhile... It's nice to have speed, and a gun that can actually hurt a medium. I've been using it to sneak around the edge of the map and ambush enemy artillery. So far it's pretty effective.
Fritz
I wonder if I should get a Luchs and aim for a Leopard. The Panther route looks like too much grinding required. And the Leopard is pretty much the best light tank.
Colin
I got the PZ35T and noted that I am now having to pay for repairs and up against PzIII. Just got the PZII so I will give that a try.
Fritz
The Pz III medium is OK, depending on the match. I just got 4 kills in my last one. Then died on the next map due to severe lag.
Fritz
Luck also plays a major role. Next game was on a map with 3 KVs on the enemy team... so I go around the back. OK but somehow I managed to stumble across all of them at the same spot. Naturally I had only another 3-4 seconds to live after that.
