"Maybe someday, some producer will make a halfway decent western again. This wasn't it...not even close."

I've got to think that somewhere out there, a market exists for a (singing?*) Cowboy and Indian Zombie movie, with a cavalry sequence.

I'll volunteer to be executive producer if y'all want to pony up some dukets.

*I'm not married to the idea, just running it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes.

As long as the cowboys sing this (

) during their cavalry charge (with an undead Custer - I want him in the film - with the good guys, and don't forget Marines!)

Saw The A-Team, and liked it - good Summer action flick with a bit of nostalgia thrown in. Nothing more, nothing less.

Having caught the tribute Easter egg for Dwight Schultz (which was cute, and very obscure - in a theater with 60 or so people in it there was only one other guy who chuckled when it was on-screen), I'm assuming that there were others for the rest of the original cast?

The original Faceman was also at the end credits, the one going out of the tanning booth.

Damn, I knew I should have stayed and watched the credits. Especially since there was apparently a SECOND Dwight Schultz tribute there as well.

There's a FIRST? I only saw him after the end credits. What scene was the first? Mebbe another excuse to watch it for the third time? :D (watched it second time, with dad yesterday) I'll just get the DVD hehehe

Yup. Here's the info (spoiler space)

It's in the second insane asylum breakout scene, the one in Germany where they bust through the screen in a Humvee while the opening credits of a 3D movie are rolling. The fake movie that's playing is called "The Greater Escape" staring a "Reginald Barclay". Reginald Barclay is the name of the character Shultz played in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager.

Just watched The Book of Eli. It was an interesting flick for the post-apocalyptic atmosphere, but kinda dumb in places. I can't see the villain not putting one through Eli's forehead for the grief and expense of the chase. Sloppy villains are no fun.

Hey, sounds like the "3:10 To Yuma" remake. "Oh, sure...after all this, I'll just totter off peaceably to prison". Uh-huh.

I got the impression through the movie he was just getting on the "3:10 To Yuma" train so the Bale character could collect on the reward, but had no intention of actually riding it all the way to Yuma.

Imho the asinine point of the movie was the complete lack of any attempt by Crowe's character and his gang to communicate what the hell Crowe is doing and the gang to behave themselves until he is on the train and then go resecue.

I just watched "Bruno". Jesus, as outrageous as I'd expected, but he really takes down some industries, too. Interviewing the two "Celebrity charity PR consultants," they are the two dippiest people I've ever seen--"Vhat ist cool for charity these days?" "Darfour is definitely in, that's where Angelina is all the time" "Vhere is Darfour, isn't zat in Iraq?" "Yes, yes it is."

Interviewing parents of babies for a baby photo shoot. "Is your child okay with bees und vasps? Your baby ist 30 lbs? Can he lose 10 of it in the next 7 days?" And these parents are all agreeing to the most outrageous questions that would seriously endanger their children. Fire? Fine. Burning phosphorous? No problem. Just amazing.

Course I have to decide if he's not just suicidally insane. Going to a private interview in Lebanon with the head of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' brigade and asking to be kidnapped...and then telling him that "his king Osama" looks like a "dirty wizard"...I can't believe the guy was so restrained. Just: "Get out".

Isn't the line 'Darfur is SOOO 2008, what is the NEW darfur?' ?

And the line about would you mind if your kids had liposuction (it was a baby!!!)

Some humans don't deserve the privileged of upright stance...

Just watched Dagon, thanks to Jim's heads up. Nice. Especially the tna.

Okay Mike, well Tomas reminded me that it's not always THAT faithful a retelling. I guess Hollywood decided that Lovecraft didn't have enough noodity in his movies to sell to the hoi polloi. But overall the story is "Darkness Over Innsmouth". I recall especially that they did a good job with the memorable scene from the book in which he must escape from the hotel with the entire town chasing after him.

I saw Robin Hood yesterday. Really disappointing. Wasn't even the visual smorgasbord that Ridley usually delivers.

The one thing it did accomplish was to present Cate Blanchett in such a way as to make her a lot more desirable than her looks would ordinarily do. I don't find her particularly good-looking, but when in a role she sure has a lot of appeal.

She is one of my favorite "in theory she looks nothing special, why I can not stop drooling" cases.

That's a good way to phrase it. Every once in awhile I have one of those Wayne's World "Oh yes, she will be mine!" moments.

I watched an intentionally over-the-top camp horror movie last night called, My Name is Bruce. Mr. B-Movie, Bruce Campbell, was a good sport to take the abuse - in shovel-fulls - which has always been at the heart of his comedy. While you can say any of his stuff could've been better, I think the writers fail the actor when it comes to Campbell. I think his talent surpasses pretty much every project he's in. I particularly recall Autolycus, the King of Thieves on Hercules and Xena, where he was at the top of his game ala Army of Darkness.
