Tommy Bennett
I saw Moon yesterday. Almost a waste of time. Cannot comprehend the super high IMDB score... I caught that about two weeks ago, and while I will say I didn't hate it, I'm glad I missed it when it was in theaters. It felt kind of like 2001: A Space Odyssey, being laid back and visually believable, but the suspense was kinda lacking. For Cthulhu fans, I saw The Dunwich Horror on the SyFy channel with Dean Stockeell, Jeffrey Cooombs & co., and while it is not 100% the original story, it was pretty decent for one of their low budget B-movies. I would like to see sequels with the same actors. One thing I got a chuckle at, was the endless name dropping from Lovecraft's mythos. They managed to work in Miskatonic U., Innsmouth, the Necronomicon and its author, and associated bogeymen. Strictly beer and pretzels, but I would watch it again. And not just for the boobs! I mean it this time!
Stargrunt6
I liked Robin Hood, but my son and I looked at each other and almost fell out of seats laughing at the medieval Mike boats in the D-Day scene. I could have down without Cate in armor--that appeal to PC was just silly. Otherwise, I thought the take on the legend was innovative. I can't wait for the sequel in which John is forced to sign the Magna Carta. Those were two things that really bugged me. 1) When I saw the boats, I thought to myself "oh great, it's SPR with swords." I hope Ridley isn't starting to "borrow."2) I hated the interpretation of Maid Marian. Oh great, another post-modern manhating feminazi with a boulder on the shoulder. When are we going to have a female lead that has nothing to prove and actually likes male company?
BP
2) . . .When are we going to have a female lead that has nothing to prove and actually likes male company? Just watch some porn- at least they fake it well.
Corinthian
Just watch some porn- at least they fake it well. Aye. I particularly recommend JAVs, specifically Mei Haruka. I find Maria Ozawa lame already, very boring, though if you're not familiar with her, she's a good intro for the genre.

ShotMagnet
Watched Galaxy Quest, with the same sister who made me watch 'It's Complicated'. She seemed to like it. I was vaguely disappointed. Shot

I mean it this time! Interesting, I really enjoyed it. It was quite slowly paced but I thought very well done, so long as you're in a contemplative mood. Saw Kick-Ass, which was fun and Avatar, which I bailed on about a half hour before the end. I keep wanting to watch the rest but it just bores me out before then. Jim Martin
Mass Effect Movie Deal Signed It seems that the option-seeking time frame has already concluded, with confirmation today that Legendary Pictures has signed a deal with EA and BioWare to produce a film based on the expansive sci-fi game universe. According to Deadline New York, the Mass Effect 2 film will be cofinanced and distributed by Warner Bros. Writer Mark Protosevich--who wrote the screenplay for I Am Legend and the upcoming Thor film--is said to be in talks to pen the script.
nitflegal
Mass Effect Movie Deal Signed We'll see. Personally, I'd vastly prefer a Halo or Bioshock movie myself (I still can't believe we as viewers had a shot at a Halo movie directed by the guy who did District 9, produced by Sir Peter F'ing Jackson, and with WETA as their special effects house and Microsoft screwed it up for more royalties)> at least we got a Prince of persia movie. . . Matt Microsoft, like Hollywood, is focused on accumulating all the wealth of the planet rather than actually entertaining anybody. There's so much ready material but instead they've remade the A-Team.

I can't wait for the sequel in which John is forced to sign the Magna Carta. Someone posted this on another forum in response to the landing boats. I thought the film was 'meh'. The plot was trying to go in too many directions at once. The final battle scene was unnecessary and, at times, downright silly.
Tommy Bennett
I just watched a horror film in the tradition of Cloverfield, but on a topic closer to the hearts of Tanknetters, called Quarantine. It really is an interesting little film, and very cleverly innocent at the beginning. It's based on a Spanish film, called Rec, so some of you furriners may know the story. Mobius
I liked the new Robin Hood story better than another 'splitting the arrow' take on it. Yes the landing craft style boats are a little over the top. It also seems like Crowe/Scott put some inside jokes in their movies. This one had Hoods men talking about a strategy of dancing with the less attractive women in the room first so as to get to prettiest ones. Right out the bar scene in "A Beautiful Mind". And there were a couple of Gladitor type scenes/lines. All in all better than Iron Man 2.

Stargrunt6
Just saw the 2005 release of Sam Peckinpah's "Pat Garret & Billy the Kid." Very deep movie. The soundtrack sometimes comes out of nowhere, but it's a heartbreaker when "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" plays. That scene finally explains what that song is about. Had to put subtitles on, I'm too much of a slicker to understand western talk.
