Archie Pellagio
It was hard for me to enjoy the sniper scene, because it's hard for me to believe that they were sniper trained AND that the rifle wasn't zeroed for them. Unless in reality EOD guys are more trained than I thought. The barrett belonged to the PMC's and they picked it up when Ralph Fiennes was hit but the derka with the SVD, which is also why most of their shots missed by a wide mark, that part they seemed to get right at least. They were simply taking the most effective weapon they had and applying the soldier fives.Just the whole scenario was painful and unnecessary except as a vehicle for the No.2 and Maverick to 'bond' and see eachother's POV and that nonsense. Those two scenes, and the stupid scene where he goes 007 and tries to track down the kid seemed completely out of place in the movie, how such totally painful scenes didn't ruin the movie for me is one of the most surprising things though, at the end of it I had forgotten how annoyed I was in those scenes and enjoyed the movie as a whole. Overall though, I liked the film - especially the early part where he lifts a wire and 152mm shells come out of the ground around him.

Archie Pellagio
I don't know if the US army calls them something different. Universal procedures to theoretically do anything you aren't trained on so pick up a .50AMR, drive the APC or boat or whatever. Now after hearing complaints from the male audience the director of the new Twilight movie has decided to aim it a little mor at the male audience: Edited July 8, 2010 by Luke Y

DesertEagle
Predators is coming out now. Instead of Ahnahld we have Adrien Brody. This time the tough guys end up on the alien planet, which itself is a game reserve.

Corinthian
I took the bus going home yesterday. And the onboard TV was showing this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1420771/ Wow. Very violent interspersed with some porn(but then that's Thai porn *shudder* *shudder*). Now, if basketball was played like that, I'd watch it more. Tommy Bennett
Saw the Predators matinee today, and enjoyed the film. It's chock full of clichés like the whole series since the original, but if you enjoy the premise, and the way the genre universe gets fleshed out - pardon that! - each installment, you'll be pleased. The cast is adequate, with the usual menagerie.

Of course the one female cast member (Alice Braga) wears a tank top. Gotta show those shoulders no matter how many bugs are out there. And it's nice to see the AA-12 shotgun make a major appearance. The best part was a preview of Robert Rodriquez's Machete Edited July 12, 2010 by DesertEagle

Tommy Bennett
Anybody seen the new R.Lee Ermey Geico commercials? He plays a not so supportive psychiatrist who berates his couch prone patients ala Full Metal Jacket. Funny!

Shot I hated that movie when I first saw, but only because I thought it made fun of southerners. Now I love it. The music is terrific. And I did catch that Geico commercial and laughed like crazy. You are so right. The best collection of original spirit country and gospel music ever to be assembled in one soundtrack album. Alison Krauss' "Down in the River To Pray" is particularly beautiful. Scroll down and look at the selection on the album... http://www.amazon.com/O-Brother-Where-Art-Thou/dp/B00004XQ83 And thankfully, the soundtrack take is available on Youtube.... Jim Martin
I'm currently reading the account of Fox 2/7 at the Toktong pass. 250 Marines against 10 times that number of screaming mad Chinese, killing 3/4s of them over a week. That seriously needs to be made into a movie. The American Rourke's Drift. They wouldn't even need to "Hollywoodize" it. No Hollywood writer would ever dream up a Marine standing on the edge of his fighting hole with his E-Tool screaming "Come on, motherfcukers!" as the platoon position is being overrun.... Tommy Bennett
I caught Despicable Me today, and must say, it was good fun. It's a plot we've all seen rehashed over the years, but a lot of thought went into it in subtle humors and site gags - the main character's rival puts his initial on everything, even the bathroom TP! Beware if you take a female with you, they'll want kids of their own after this!

There is supposed to be a movie about the Battle of Long Tan with Sam Worthington being made, which is a similar situation (Company vs 500-2000 VC depending on which version of the story you believe) Best line would be Maj Smith's "Look, if you can't get here in 20 minutes, don't bother coming"

It's got almost 30 songs, which is tremendous for a soundtrack. The visuals of the movie were amazing, especially how the trees looked.
