Doug Kibbey Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I have lost track of all the times I listened to this on the way to ski areas in Colorado and Utah. Driving on a sunny day up snowy passes are indescribable with this in the background. The studio version is the definitive one, but that was for technical reasons that are partially explained.

FlyingCanOpener Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 The entirety of Relient K's 2004 album Mmhmm. The ladyfriend and I are going through a tough time (Read: both of us didn't realize how fast things progressed, and she blinked first. Now we're "Friends" that talk to each other on the phone two times a week and I'll probably be going see her in a month or so. *ahem*), and the last time I was in a real spot of bother was back in 2004, and the album helped to get me through it. Now? The songs are taking a whole new meaning. My favourite?
Doug Kibbey Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Completely forgotten today, there was a period in the late '60's when you couldn't turn on a radio and not find these guys on at least one station. Their string of hits was without precedent.
Doug Kibbey Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 One hit wonder, and Bobby Fuller died in tragic and mysterious circumstances. Man, I love this in high school. The Clash totally f***ed this up.
Michael Eastes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 One of my favourite songs, of late,,,by a young Australian singer/songwriter, Brooke Fraser. WARNING: it's a Christian song. Try to appreciate the vocal and tune anyway, though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLpEIwZPbOs
Michael Eastes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 One hit wonder, and Bobby Fuller died in tragic and mysterious circumstances. Man, I love this in high school. The Clash totally f***ed this up. The Bobby Fuller Four. That was/is one great song. Apparently Mr. Fuller got on the bad side of The Mob. Rumor has it that he was forced to drink Drano, but it's only a rumor.

Doug Kibbey Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 One of my favorite songs and not easily found today. A shockingly (and great) long intro before the vocals for it's time. Van Morrison's early years.

Doug Kibbey Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Montrose- Bad Motor Scooter- I like Ronnie Montrose...the mix on this version of "Mandolina" could be better, but it's what we got: Care for Robin Trower? "Bridge of Sighs"
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Care for Robin Trower? "Bridge of Sighs" Sure! Too Rolling Stoned-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEQ-0-tN0T0
Doug Kibbey Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Junior Brown...(the boy can pick) R&R... Hell, he even does surf music...(Dick Dale, watch out!)
Brad Sallows Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I only recently started hitting YouTube music links, and it may be the death of my pocketbook. Today it is a decent cover of "Itchycoo Park" by some band called "M People", and "Destination Unknown" by "Missing Persons" (following links from Frank Zappa-related info). I've noticed many people stop acquiring "new" (different, contemporary) music in their late '30s/early '40s; YouTube might change that.
Typhoid Maxx Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Practicing my left hook (it needs work) to NIN's "Closer" at 2:00am. I don't even drink coffee anymore. Good workout music.
Michael Eastes Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Care for Robin Trower? "Bridge of Sighs" I had an album by Robin Trower that I bought in Germany. It was a smokin' live album, recorded in Sweden. I have not been able to find it anywhere, and I thought that it was his best album ( other than some of the Procul Harum albums, that is ). Do any of you Euro types know if Trower's live album is available anywhere on CD over there?

I have to agree with P.J.O'Rourke: Nine Inch Nails music sounds like someone threw a washtub full of cats down a flight of stairs. My dad didn't like Hendrix, so maybe it's an age thing. Of course, he hated every rock act he ever heard, from Bill Haley on.

My dad didn't like Hendrix, so maybe it's an age thing. Of course, he hated every rock act he ever heard, from Bill Haley on. I tried to play some Chambers Brothers for mine, he listened politely and I think contained his distaste so as not to get that whole "rebellion" thing working. Clearly he was not impressed.Thankfully, I was also a Gordon Lightfoot fan and that passed muster with both parents.
Doug Kibbey Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) From "A Little Light Music"..... "Rocks On The Road" ...for anybody who's ever traveled....professionally. by 4:56, it turns decidedly more raucous (or would that be rockus) Edited February 24, 2010 by Doug Kibbey
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) The Holmes Brothers- Opportunity to Cry. Kudos to Willie Nelson for writing one of the best verses in any song "I'd like to see you, but I'm afraid that I don't know wrong from right. Would I kiss you, Or want to kill you on sight....."
