Dame Karmen Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Listening to "Jazz with Lazz" radio. Colin Lazzerini hosting http://www.mediaontap.com/radio/colinlazzerini.php
BP Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 The Marshall Tucker Band. Toy Caldwell (RIP) is still the best guitarist I ever got to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEOV5vWfSgI My bother-in-law and I listened to a greatest hits compendium on the way skiing this week- must have played Fire on the Mountain a half dozen times. Brothers were NOT afraid to rock the jazz flute a la Rin Burgundy either!
Geoff Winnington-Ball Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Watching the last bit of Heartbreak Ridge on TV in the background right now while dinner's cooking, having watched In Harm's Way earlier today. Both are pretty good, despite the cliches.

DB Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 The folky stuff got me remembering Sandy Denny. I remember I listened to her lots. I had bought an album, never heard of her before, and loved it. Wish I could remember what album. Some history and tunes at the following link, her life cut short at age 31. Remembering you Sandy Denny. Love your voice still as I listen to it online http://www.myspace.com/sandydenny It's Allison Krauss, not Sandy Denny, but it's still good. I wish I'd seen them on the Raising Sand tour.
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) It's Allison Krauss, She has the voice of an angel. And for something completely different, Iggy Pop doing "Cold Metal." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVzcs9Ygb5Q Edited January 3, 2010 by Hittite Under The Bridge
Dame Karmen Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I found this Allison Krause song when looking for a video that her voice is clearer and highlighted, for a better listen. Beautiful song - which I dedicate special to you Michael E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLZAWtdFhio...feature=related
Dame Karmen Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Oh gawd, now you have me off on a trip here DB. After listening to that song by Allison Krause I looked up and have been listenig to the Carter Family and then found this old timey song and video .... all reminds me of music of childhood that I sang along to all through growing up, and so did everyone else ... but this one especially reminded me of Mom's yodelling, which she loved yodelling and was great at. Fun stuff. This video is cool. I really like the guys voice/singing. Its a joy to me that my youngest loves all kinds of music, always has ... taste everything
Doug Kibbey Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I caught this show in Vegas some years ago, and they are the most entertaining act I've seen since Hendrix... Pity there isn't more footage of the "dancing statues", which sat static on the stage for most of the show (with everybody wondering what they were going to do). Had a second row seat and a fantastic time. They do a heckofva' version of Baba O'Reily, too. Who else would turn a grand piano on it's side and whack it? Baba O' Riley
Dame Karmen Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Couldn't get the 2nd one but the first one was wicked!
Doug Kibbey Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 The world would be a lot poorer if we'd never had Billy Gibbons. Used to be a great live version on YT, but it got pulled. BJB's
Tommy Bennett Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I'm putting Thick as a Brick in the CD player. It works out that I can hear the entire album in my round trip to the train. Jethro Tull provides excellent stimulus when driving.

Dame Karmen Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) Django again Last night? surfing through channels I came a cross note of a program about to start called "Djangomania" which had a lot of interesting information about Django Reinhardt and his rather short life that I never knew about before. I first heard his music a couple of decades ago, but never anything about his life story. The program talks about Gypsies history as well ... and of course Djangomania http://www.telefilm.gc.ca/data/production/...sp?lang=en& A site with Django radio ... scroll down for Stephane Grappelli too -http://www.last.fm/music/Django+Reinhardt Edited January 5, 2010 by VenerableDamePW

Found this on youtube I was looking for myself googling thick as a brick but couldn't find me mentioned so opted for having a listen to Jethro Tull
Doug Kibbey Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Joey- Concrete Blonde. Nice one, Dwight...had never heard of them. Now I gotta' put in a word for the band who lost a key songwriter before it ever hit the streets.....almost a '60's sound. And a highly under-rated band (even if Furay, Messina and Meissner had established cred) Mighty nice gal in the video, too.
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Now I gotta' put in a word for the band who lost a key songwriter before it ever hit the streets.....almost a '60's sound. Catchy, I'd never heard it before....reminds me a bit of Brewer & Shipley's One Toke Over the Line. And a highly under-rated band (even if Furay, Messina and Meissner had established cred) Mighty nice gal in the video, too. Poco! I hadn't thought of them in years.
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 The world would be a lot poorer if we'd never had Billy Gibbons. Used to be a great live version on YT, but it got pulled. BJB's Billy Gibbons is IMHO, simply the best guitarist ever. It's too bad that ZZTop evolved into a novelty act. I can't find it on YouTube, but Gov't Mule did a killer version of Jesus Left Chicago

Post wrong (but good) links. I posted "Lake Shore Drive" by Alliota, Haynes and Jeremiah. Meant to post... My boo-boo.
Doug Kibbey Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Someone finally posted it... "Sweet Jane" by Mott The Hoople. So unlike the Cowboy Junkies song, but about 15 years sooner. Rocks out at the end. My favorite version...
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 I've been listening to a lot of early rockabilly stuff lately. This is local rockabilly pioneer Art Adams doing "She Don't Live Here No More."
Dame Karmen Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Ah .... just beeeee-eautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isaac Stern plays Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto- Allegro More violin, but this time jazzy style ... doing one of my all time favorite songs. I love how this one is done and sounds ... hope you do too.
