I just watched a retrospective about Yoko and her unjust malignment regarding The Beatles breaking up.  I gained a lot of respect for her:

So this is a little different. This lady is a classically trained opera singer (search under Elizabeth Zharoff and there is a lot of her work on youtube), and is now a voice coach. She has been listening to various pop groups and deconstructing their work, particularly the voice work. It is surprisingly interesting and entertaining, particularly when they start smashing up instruments.  Here is is deconstructing the The Who singing 'Wont get fooled again.'

The one she does on Jim Hendrix singing 'All along the watchtower' is worth watching as well.

I have recently been paying a lot of attention to Nightwish, especially the Wacken 2013 concert fronted by Floor Jansen. Amazing voice, and a really tight band. Unfortunately I’m too stupid to put up a video through my phone, but it’s on YouTube.

She's currently fully engrossed with the mechanics of the growling singing style (see for example Jinjer), to the point of publishing scientific papers on the topic and engaging with researchers at a Utah University. Apparently there is a lot of commonality with throat singing.

And then there's this.

Now, where I could borrow an oscilloscope?

I usually don't care for Postmodern Jukebox, but this is different;

I've not tried to do this, but there are methods for capturing youtube audio to a local file. At that point, there are many programs for analysing the output. A free one that I've used for various reasons is Audacity. It can do FFTs, for example.

Yes, I forgot some mp3 players include spectrum analyzers.

Oh man, that concert recording is one of metal genre's GOAT candidates. NW is amazing, everyone should check out their cover of 'Phantom of the Opera', it's a legend.

They have a new album out just now, haven't listened to it yet though. To be honest, I found their previous album bit of a bore - not bad, just bit uninspired. But their overall discography is extremely strong.

On related subject, Youtube discovered me Deloraine - a Czech fantasy folk act which makes Witcher related songs.

I'm not sure I think their songs are always that special, but they have quite photogenic music videos to be sure:
