Typhoid Maxx Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I had an album by Robin Trower that I bought in Germany. It was a smokin' live album, recorded in Sweden. I have not been able to find it anywhere, and I thought that it was his best album ( other than some of the Procul Harum albums, that is ). Do any of you Euro types know if Trower's live album is available anywhere on CD over there? http://www.cdwow.com/CD/robin-trower-live-...below/dp/441913 Amazon does them from $50 to $170 + shipping... http://www.amazon.com/Robin-Trower-Live/dp/B000005RQI ...but you can download Living Out Of Time - Live for $7.99 with previews of the mp3's at http://www.amazon.com/Living-Out-Of-Time-L...7049&sr=8-3
Gregory Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I've been listening to for about 6 hours now...kinda scary actually.

Typhoid Maxx Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I have to agree with P.J.O'Rourke: Nine Inch Nails music sounds like someone threw a washtub full of cats down a flight of stairs. My dad didn't like Hendrix, so maybe it's an age thing. Of course, he hated every rock act he ever heard, from Bill Haley on. Discord music for a "uneven" activity (or mind ) - I'd love Beethoven, but I doubt I could whack-a-rat to Fur Elise or Moonlight Sonata. Perhaps P.J.O'Rourke was right - my other "easy listening" is Brujeria.... Music to scare White Power Neo-Nazis with. Verily, I am the wrong man to walk into while wearing earphones...
Rubberneck Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Opeth does a great cover version of Bridge of Sighs and they just released an EP with a great cover of Would? by Alice in Chains. Been getting a lot into covers lately, here are a few that I've been listening to: "No Quarter" by Tool (originally Led Zep)"Hallowed by Thy Name by Machine Head (originally by Iron Maiden)"Battery" by Machine Head (Metallica)"Escape" by Hatebreed (Metallica)"Ghosts of War" by Hatebreed (Slayer)"Stargazer" by Dream Theater (Rainbow)"To Tame a Land" by Dream Theater (Iron Maiden)

Hittite Under The Bridge Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Did you serve on M60A2's by any chance? Just askin'... Well, as a nineteen juliet, I can say that I like the song, but Goldfinger's cover is much better.......
Dame Karmen Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 TV Golden Girls canned laughter and background music or music fading in they go to commercial
Doug Kibbey Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 They just don't write intros like they used to....
Corinthian Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Joe Jackson- Is She Really Going Out With Him? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SPogGqCgeM&fmt=18 And the answer to that question is yes. *sigh* Meanwhile: I was listening to Handel's Sarabande, from the Barry Lyndon soundtrack.
Brad Sallows Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 How does Trower's stuff compare with Procol Harum? Mostly similar, or mostly different?
Dame Karmen Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 How does Trower's stuff compare with Procol Harum? Mostly similar, or mostly different? Oh my god, I LOVE Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale. http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x8pxid

Michael Eastes Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) How does Trower's stuff compare with Procol Harum? Mostly similar, or mostly different? Mostly different, although Trower's guitar style is evident in its development during the Procul Harum years. Trower didn't write any of Harum's songs, at least that I'm aware of. I seem to recall that Gary Booker did most of the music writing, but it's been a long time since I've read the liner notes. I must have worn out three copies each of the "Procul Harum" and "Home" albums. The first Procul Harum album ( including "A Whiter Shade of Pale", among other very good tracks ) is one of the better musical products of the 60's, IMHO. They had quite a few very dark and odd songs, with lyrics by Keith Reid, IIRC. Edited February 28, 2010 by Michael Eastes More memories...
Michael Eastes Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 http://www.cdwow.com/CD/robin-trower-live-...below/dp/441913 That's the one. It's even close to affordable. Thanks for the link.

Hittite Under The Bridge Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Letter To my Girlfriend- by Zakk Lowell Knight, who at age 15, plays a fair blues guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg_wao7p_XA
Doug Kibbey Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Letter To my Girlfriend- by Zakk Lowell Knight, who at age 15, plays a fair blues guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg_wao7p_XA Not bad. Let's hope that a few years he discovers the acoustic guitar and slows it down a notch or two. I like city blues, but delta blues rules.
Doug Kibbey Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I'm 34 and have lived in South Africa my whole life. Take a wild guess... Inside joke really directed at (or with reference to) Hittite Under the Bridge. I was being admittedly snide about Joe "all-my-songs-sound-the-same" Jackson, but didn't really mean any harm. Just joshin' with ya'.
Doug Kibbey Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Jimmy Page does what he really does best...nice acoustic with the Zep. Bron-Yr-Aur ...and the seldom played jewel from LZIII: "Tangerine" ...and equally ignored (from LZIII) "That's the Way" LZIII is full of gems that never get airplay, just like the only thing you ever hear from IV is "Stairway to Heaven". Pity.
Hittite Under The Bridge Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Not bad. Let's hope that a few years he discovers the acoustic guitar and slows it down a notch or two. I like city blues, but delta blues rules.Check out his MySpace page and check out "Come On In My Kitchen" or "Last Fair Deal Gone down." http://www.myspace.com/zakkknight Edited March 1, 2010 by Hittite Under The Bridge
Doug Kibbey Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Two others that you seldom hear any more....Among other things, Robert Plant sings and doesn't scream and waste that voice. High acoustic guitar mix... Hey, hey what can I do (I got a woman wanta' ball all day) and soft/hard.... "Ramble On" From LZII, I think. Edited March 1, 2010 by Doug Kibbey
