Petteri Pöri Posted February 25, 2002 Posted February 25, 2002 Finally got IL-2, and it kicks ass! Even had to buy a new joystick for the game, Sidewinder Precision 2, because the old stick didn't have rudder or throttle control. The Airacobra is indeed excellent, a big cannon is a must against bombers. FW190 is another of my favorites. But I have to confess that unlimited ammo is the only way I manage. And those spins are mighty hard to recover from...

Performance is close enough, you can use your higher roll rate to advantage, you can out dive them, and by word can you out gun them! The E's are definitly undermo..powered so that levels the playing field a bit, and some genius thought the Luftwaffe's pilots were so good they could do with a peashooter for the F (and apparently they were that good). So you can mix up with them on occasion, especially since the LaGG can take quite a bit of punishment. Compared to all the other soviet flyable fighters at the beginning, the LaGG-3 is excellent, at least you can (if you're carefull) mix it up with te 109's to a degree, the MiG-3's are hit and run only BnZ'ers and have a piss poor armament to boot, and the Yak-1's fly like wet spongues... You gotta love the MiG, no armor, no self-sealing feultanks, no acceleration, pityful performance at low level, armement rating "wuss", prone to unexpected stalls (the only plane I've caused to stall-spin without doiung something really stupid). The MiG-3U has better armement, but muzzle flash causes near-instantenious obscuration of the target... The number of times I've been downed by a single burst of mg fire The Yak isn't half bad, but I prefer something more durable
Lev Posted February 26, 2002 Posted February 26, 2002 Being a rear-gunner in multiplayer is also a hoot, especially if you don't have a voice connection with your pilot
Archie Pellagio Posted February 26, 2002 Posted February 26, 2002 There's also something screwy with the emil's AI, they seem to have an uncontrolable afinity with the ground. I learnt to try spray a few MG rounds into them, and then wait for the pilot to kamikaze himself into the ground and I get the kill
Nakito Posted February 27, 2002 Posted February 27, 2002 Just got Falcon 4.0 and am downloading the Super Pack 2...anyone have any say on it? With the Super Pack it seems almost...excessive
Archie Pellagio Posted February 27, 2002 Posted February 27, 2002 SP2 is pretty darned excellent. Especially the new A-10 3D model and the new trees, I've not flown it as a falcon sim, but an A-10 sim
