Heirophant
What about... China vs. India vs. Japan vs. Russia vs. USA vs. EU free-for-all? Yes, this scenario is highly likely, IMHO. Almost as likely as that we're all living in some computer matrix.
Heirophant
Yeah, that's whenever the IAF decides to actually chose a fighter. They've been talking about the MRCA deal since what...2004? And as of today nothing has come of it. Both the China and India have a strong air force. I'd say its evenly matched, though its tilted more towards India since the Chinese will be the ones on the offensive. I know the original premise derives from the musings of an Indian commentator, but why assume it's China that's attacking? Why not an Indian attack on China - equally (im)plausible, right? Or does Indian democracy prevent an offensive strike?

When you are talking about $12 billion dollars, a decision like that doesn't happen in a day. The IAF is submitting its report with its preferences to the MoD. Once MoD receives that, the MoD will begin negotiating with the preferred vendors.

X-Files
China is aggressively building up military forces to strike U.S. forces in the western Pacific and elsewhere as part of what the Pentagon calls an array of high-tech "anti-access" missiles, submarines and warplanes in its latest annual report. The report to Congress on China's military power, released Monday, also warned that China's military is extending its global military reach beyond a weapons buildup to wage regional war with Taiwan and the United States. The report also questioned U.S.-China military exchanges, noting that Beijing is using the visits and meetings for political influence operations and intelligence gathering. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/aug/16/china-targets-us-troops-with-arms-buildup/

Its prudent to design your defense against the greatest threat you foresee possibly facing, or if you are feeling froggy, the best in the World. That just happens to be the US of A. Marek Tucan
Next time it starts raining fish, you remember that. I want some bug updates, God just doesnt support this system anymore. Careful with what you wish, last time God tried to patch this particular bug, it rained not fish, but burning sulphur... And in the patch before that, it rained just water, but for 40 days.
