If I am making it myself:

 

Corned Beef Hash w/ homefries and grits OR SOS over Hashbrowns and grits OR Chorizo Fino and hashbrowns in tortillas. I must say that my old Mess Hall in the army (2/36th Infantry) had about the best SOS I have ever eaten. On a cold day in Germany, SOS. hash browns, and grits with coffee was a meal from heaven. Chorizo Fino is the best because it has less grease than regular Chorizo, and has a great flavor, especially with Tobasco Green added.

 

If I am going out to say... The Blanco Cafe, then

 

Chorizo and potato tacos and some Barbacoa.

 

I like BIG breakfasts when I can make them or get them, and then smaller meals later on. No eggs, I am allergic to eggs.

Corned beef hash with home fries was supposed to be my breakfast this morning. Alas, the restaurant said they didn't have it today, so it was bacon and eggs. And man, was I disappointed! :(

 

So far, Loser Day continues unabated.... <_<

 

Fave breakfast: Garlic fried rice, tinapa (smoked fish), tomato slices, fried egg (sunnyside up), pork sausages (not the "refined" ones sold at supermarkets - better the country type ones), fried potatoes, and orange juice. If it's a cold, rainy day, chicken arrozcaldo or congee. Same: prefer big breakfasts.

Breakfast can be defined on several different levels depending upon locale, company and situation. These fall into three loosely-defined categories:

 

(1) FIELD EXPEDIENT TYPE - Black coffee laced with a good dollop of rye whisky (or acceptable substitute); repeat as required and supplement with cigarettes. Sweet black tea laced with Mount Gay rum an acceptable (even desirable) alternative.

 

(2) IMPRESS THE LADS - Bully beef fried with onions and potatoes (defacto home-made hash) with a couple of soft fried eggs on top and served with ice-cold beer or white wine. Repeat beverage as required. You may substitute a small ribeye steak and pork 'n' beans for the hash if you're really a wuss.

 

(3) PIG OUT POLITELY - Go out to your local dive and order three eggs easy-over with fresh peameal [Canadian] bacon and home-fried potatoes and toast. Wash down with coffee and/or tea. You may substitute ham for peameal bacon. Drink once you get home (you'll need it).

(1) You can always have sliced fried spam on top of beans and covered in eggs as before... gin is strictly a between-lunch-and-dinner drink (unless you're in the Navy); if you're desperate for something to compliment your orange juice, try 50/50 vodka. ;)

 

(2) Pancakes are fattening, and I can still fit into the battledress I was wearing over 25 years ago, so there. <_<

 

(3) Nowadays we save the maple syrup to serve to furriners when they come to visit - they'll eat it on anything, believing it's original Canadiana... :D

I had an uncle that swore by Cornflakes w/hot gin.

 

Shee-it.... I remember pouring cognac on granola a long time ago... it made that horse-feed faintly edible, IIRC. :)

Corned beef hash is probably the best breakfast food you can get. Simple, pure, meat and potatos in a can. It's enjoyment is increased if you're eating it while camping.

 

that said, I have to add a side that is served at a local breakfast and lunch shop here. "julie's home fries/hash browns"

 

Home fries or hash browns (I prefer the hash browns), mixed with onions, mushrooms, jalepenos, and covered in cheese. Gives breakfast a nice kick - no need for hot sauce.

Oh man your making me all hungry and stuff... Just add 2 OE eggs and OJ and I'm in heaven.

If I'm doing physical, outside work on a cold morning, I start out with about five strips of thick bacon, three fried eggs, some crisp-fried, kieshka (Polish blood sausage) and hash brown potatoes, all fried in bacon grease to absolute perfection. Add three slices of oatmeal bread to soak up all of the grease and egg yolk and keep the ketchup bottle nearby to soak down and cover the blood sausage with. Fill my quart mug 3/4's abrim with strong, jet-black coffee, add a couple of shots of blackberry brandy fresh from the freezer and I might just forget why it is that I'm going outside for, especially in all of that stinking cold weather.~ :lol:

Breakfast...

 

Three fried eggs, sausage patties, home fries with onions and a couple of cups of hot Earl Grey tea. A reasonable substitution for the sausage would be thick-sliced maple-flavored bacon or a slab of ham.

 

A great start to an early morning of work around the estate or perhaps to fuel up before a cold November morning deer hunt.

I like big breakfasts too. :) .Most days however it is rushed affair with a couple of toasts and coffee or tea. On days when i have a bit more time , i like two parathas(South East Asian version which is much crispier than the indian one) drowned in a lamb rib curry(called dhalcha) which has small pieces of lamb fat floating in it and a big glass of indian tea.A breakfast which is chockful of fat and cholestrol and sugar.

 

My friends and i call it in jest "The Widow maker". :P

during university i just stopped having breakfast. shitty lifestyle, sleeping too long etc, you know it :). i'd like to start having a light breakfast again. when i came to the US 3 weeks ago, my first breakfast here was at Jim's restaurant (not THAT tank-net's Jim's ;), and it was a steak, ham and eggs and hash browns. no way i could keep eating that...

Friend of mine's mom made killer biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Truly worth killing for. :)

Today’s breakfast inspired by TN discussion of same –

 

Half a can of “Govedi Narezak” – Serbian beef “spam” – fried and layered between two toasted muffins, accompanied by dollops of Hellmann’s mayo, and two creamy scrambled eggs a piece (with plenty of butter, grated cheese, chives, garlic, salt & pepper mixed in).

 

Monster jug of strong coffee.

 

Sadly, no OJ or cranberry juice.

Went to the "International House of Cardio-vascular Disease" (aka IHOP) this morning. Had pancakes, two eggs scrambled, sausages and strawberry crepes. I should have a myocardial infarction (heart attack) sometime this afternoon. :)
