The B4069 near Lyneham, Wilts has been severely damaged by as-yet unexplained forces. The section of the road has been so badly damaged that the tarmac is completely snapped or lying a 45-degree angle in some places.

First photo? I don't see how can that explain what happened.

Sorry, yes, first photo.

They're building on a green field site on the slope above the road. We've had (by our standards) two or three severe storms in the last couple of weeks, with heavy rainfall. You can see that the right edge of the road has been pushed by some slippage, and there's water filling at least one of the low spots.

My opinion is that the building works have affected the drainage substantially, and perhaps they've found a bit of soil that has suffered some liquefaction, slumped/flowed downhill and displaced the road surface.

Or, it could be giant moles or something :D

Your drainage/civil engineering explanation implies failure on the part of the civil engineers etc. hired by the government, which cannot be true. Therefore, the remaining explanation of graboids, however improbable, must be correct.

The construction company pays for that stuff. Why do you think it would be the government?

Reread what I wrote.

Which bit of "... hired by the government" am I supposed to have misread?

The only change here is the new building works, the contractor is responsible for an impact assessment on the existing infrastructure, not the government.

For reference, that road has been there since before bitumen was used to seal road surfaces and might conceivably be pre-Roman.

Three-inch Joro spiders have made their way from Japan to Georgia and are spreading out slowly, according to a report.

She was carrying a vape liquid containing some kind of cannabinoid. Not a good idea. Also, it is fortunate for her that the incident happened in Moscow, not in Singapore.

BOLTON (CBS) – A comfort sheep is believed to have killed a volunteer at a farm in Bolton. The volunteer was identified as 73-year-old Kim Taylor.

“Taylor, a longtime volunteer at Cultivate Care Farms, was caring for livestock in a pen alone when a sheep charged at her and repeatedly rammed her,” said a statement from the Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center.

OK, now our extraterrestrial zookeepers are just screwing with us;

A gene linked to the development of hearing in humans has just been linked to sensory development in sea anemones, too.

Called pou-iv (pow-four), the gene can be found in the tentacles of the starlet sea anemone (Nematostella vectensis), where it plays a crucial role in the animal's sense of touch.

Cnidaria, the phylum to which sea anemones belong, is the closest relative to Bilateria, animals with bilateral symmetry such as humans, diverging from their last common ancestor that lived around 748 to 604 million years ago.

The discovery of the gene's role in the starlet sea anemone suggests that it was present in their common ancestor and likely played a role in sensory development then, too.

Argentine paleontologists have announced the discovery of an apex-predator dinosaur that measured three stories from nose to tail and eviscerated its prey with sharp, curved claws.

The six-ton giant, the largest megaraptor unearthed to date, fed on smaller dinosaurs that it ripped to shreds with its talons before digging into their intestines, paleontologist Mauro Aranciaga told AFP.

It would have been the "apex predator" of its time, said Aranciaga—well deserving of its chilling scientific name "Maip macrothorax."

Nature doesn't usually re-invent the wheel. Once it's got a bit of code that works, it keeps using that code and building up upon it. Sort of like how modern banking software often has Cobol and Fortran somewhere in the underpinnings.

Oh yeah. Chlorophyll vs Hemoglobin, identical inner structure, except Mg vs Fe.

Testosterone soon to be heavily regulated.

The study – Testosterone Administration Induces A Red Shift in Democrats – was published on November 14th, 2021 by Professor Paul Zak, the Director of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University.

“His research has made a substantial impact in explaining the variation in human social behaviors and has been cited by other scholars over 18,000 times placing in the top 0.3% of all scholars,” explains his professional biography.

Zak’s latest findings reveal a link between testosterone levels and political preference through analyzing 136 voting-age males throughout the 2012 election season.

“Our results demonstrate that testosterone induces a “red shift” among weakly-affiliated Democrats,” summarized the paper.
