Manic Moran Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Closeups of the ones that weren't found in pieces when I went rooting in the attic over Christmas... http://www.clubi.ie/exalted/ntmmod.htm NTM [Edited by Manic Moran (19 Jan 2002).]
Gennady I. Beregovoy Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Very good builds comrade! I particularly like the LVTP7 but more so the Challenger - how'd you do the camo netting?
Manic Moran Posted January 19, 2002 Author Posted January 19, 2002 Verlinden Products did the netting. (And the maps). I think the MRE boxes and duffle bags are by Verlinden as well. NTM
Manic Moran Posted January 19, 2002 Author Posted January 19, 2002 Had a little fun with photoshop this morning... Rather pleased actually :-)
Jacques Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Again, good to see your work. and to see that you are having fun! I believe you can use medical gauze for the netting, as far as I know that is what Verlinden uses/repackages. Use acrylic paint ot color the gauze and soak it in white glue to adhere it. Another trick is to get some dry cylantro leaves, crush them up, and then glue them to the cammo. If you are willing to do some FINE detail painting of the netting, a really stunning effect can be done. I am hopeign to do something like this soon for my Challenger 1 mk. 3.
John Eary Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Manic, you have done some cool stuff. Even the winged thingies are kinda pretty. Are you still building?
Gennady I. Beregovoy Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Nice effect on the Viggen. Looks real.
Armored Marine Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 Manic, great models...I especially liked the Challenger. It's funny that I too have an LVTP7A1 camo'ed exactly like yours Ed
Manic Moran Posted January 20, 2002 Author Posted January 20, 2002 Originally posted by John Eary:Manic, you have done some cool stuff. Even the winged thingies are kinda pretty. Are you still building? Officially still building. In actuality, I seem to get partway through a model then something interferes. What's pissing me off right now is that my 1/350 enterprise got put on hold, and a few of the pieces have broken off in the meantime. The same has happened to my 1/350 Iowa which, last I check in Ireland, was nearly unfinishable. Probably have more time now, given my current unemployed status. NTM
John Eary Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 I feel your pain. During the years when I was not modeling, I left all the old stuff at the folks place. When the bug bit me again, I went to dig them up. About half were simply gone including my 1/25 Centurian with interior. I still haven't got a straight answer as to where they went. Luckily the Cent is still available and I replaced it (to be built at a later date). Sorry about the employment problem and modeling or not, I hope that it is quickly resolved.
Gennady I. Beregovoy Posted January 22, 2002 Posted January 22, 2002 Same here Manic - sort of. My 1/350 Musashi is on hold status - work and study interfering the greater plan. Also the lack of photoetch parts for the darn thing. Same with the Flanker (already 5 years unfinished), PzH2000 (7 months?), F-14 (8 years unfinished), Titanic (waaaaaaay unfinished - will never be finished I suppose - parts are missing already), F-117 (7 years), Avenger and Corsair (both 5 years). What's bad is that I've started building 'em yet haven't finished due to lack of available paints and the like. It's a different matter if the kit is still in the box - at least it is still in 'pristine' condition.
Jacques Posted January 22, 2002 Posted January 22, 2002 Ah, you are all not alone, I have a Monogram 1/48 AH-1 cobra that I started 14 years ago...and is still unfinished. And my 1/48 Hind, with all the trimmings i could find for it, still sits half-built after 2 years...just a lack of interst in hyper-detailing a kit. SIGH.
