Jacques Posted January 8, 2002 Author Posted January 8, 2002 Hiya all, back from holiday travels. Can't agree to "stay away" from all chinese kits. Yes, Zhengdefu really did have bad kits, but the 1/48 T-72M1 is not too bad, easily workable into a great background/forced perspective model. ANd the Su-32 is a fairly ok kit, especially for the $12 I paid for it. Trumpeter kits are getting a LOT better real fast. Try comparing the T-72 kits with the M1 kits...like night and day. I enjoy a fair challenge, and they offer it in the early releases. The t-55 series is not so bad. they have changed the plastic to be more mainstream, they have worked on crisping details up, and they are working on new subject matter, not another panzer! But they do rip off some other companies kits, and that does bother me. I do not know if I should cheer them on for poking the greedy resin model makers in the eye, or if I should boycot the kits because they are pirating someone's hard work. I think many of us have this problem. So far the only actual rip-off that they have done that is a serious threat to anyone is the K1/K1A1 kits. But it seems the Koreans and Taiwanese are trying to raise the bar on the most expensive piece of resin yet made...
Gennady I. Beregovoy Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Jacques, got me pix re:mud? Sorry for the bad quality. As of this post, I have yet to check me mail, so I dunno if ye replied or not.
Jacques Posted January 10, 2002 Author Posted January 10, 2002 Hiya all. I will be posting Gennady's pics on MMFS soon. I will leave a note and a link when I get it done today. BTW the 1/144 IL-76 series from Trumpetere is out now. $33.00 each, but I am sure they have a little size to them...so nice to get some new stuff.
Jacques Posted January 10, 2002 Author Posted January 10, 2002 Here is the link for Gennady's pictures. http://members.tripod.com/mmfs0/onlinemem/...govoy/index.htm
Gennady I. Beregovoy Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 Aw shucks, I dunno what to say. Yeah, looking at the pix once again, I REALLY need to hone my modelling skills. (psst! I'm ready for my close up)
Jason Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 Actually, I'd say you need to hone your photography skills.....
