That being said, I would not be opposed to a recovery and the interment of the human remains... it looks like it is in really good shape and would be a time capsel... they should restore and preserve it

No such fears with the HMS Ontario as it is well beyond the realm of divers, recreational or otherwise.

Under the US flag? and with how many stars? The Confederate flag could not be used, but they were not fighting for Uncle Sam either? And what actually happened? I bet they screwed it up. Tricky stuff.

I'm not sure what honors were actually rendered to the CS Soldiers of the CSS Hunley, but the period correct answer would be under the flag of their home state. The whole point of the war that is miss-understood today is that the Confederates were fighting for their home State, the US side was fighting for a single nation.

Well, actually a (very) few technical divers go that deep but those folks tend to be a self disciplined bunch so I really doubt wreck plunder would be an issue. S/F.....Ken M
