Sardaukar Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Adrian Goldsworthy in his Roman Army at War 80BC - 200AD also talks about possibility that First Cohort (double strength) contained the veterans (those who served the extra period after regular service) and thus contributed to it's alleged elite status.
