ShotMagnet Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Too much time, and too much talent. And it probably goes without saying that I'm simultaneously awed, stunned, and jealous. Shot
Guest JamesG123 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 And I can't even get that Super Sherman finished...
zaevor2000 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This needs, deserves, and belongs in a museum somewhere!!! This poster summed it up: "I've just quit........................... May 28 2008, 5:55 AM ...........this hobby. What's the point in continuing when THIS is what you are up against? LOL. Magnificent work. Stunning " Absolutely stunning. Thanks for posting! Frank
ShotMagnet Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 What struck me, amongst other things, was the extraordinary attention to detail. There's a chaplain giving services, there are a brace of guys playing pool, there's the hole in the hotel that another modeler might have left at 'hole' and not bothered to include damage-induced sag, etc. I could spend the next month or so looking at the shots, and not glean from them every detail. Shot But as many such dioramas the guy went overboard. If the life is so peaceful why is there a sniper looking for targets and the guy looking through binoculars? It's a common mistake I've seen on many dioramas - no consistency. But other than that is is good (through I personally like smaller dioramas which are more tight and tell a story better). Vladimir
Corinthian Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 (through I personally like smaller dioramas which are more tight and tell a story better). Same here, but I am still most impressed by this diorama. Maybe the sniper was sniping at the common European hare to supplement their meager rations?

Marek Tucan Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Maybe the sniper was sniping at the common European hare to supplement their meager rations? Or he and the guy with trieder are having a look through windows on the undressing of local population of female persuasion in nearby village?
ShotMagnet Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 If the life is so peaceful why is there a sniper looking for targets...Life isn't so peaceful, judging by the POWs who are still kicking cans in the attic. As for the sniper, almost no imagination is required to support the notion that some junior-grade officer told that man (perhaps as a matter of doctrine) to look for targets. A fraction more imagination says that maybe the sniper might creatively interpret 'targets' to include, as mentioned, potential hasenpfeffer. Plus, snipers are excellent scouts and/or OPs, and the war isn't over just yet. Shot
sunday Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hey! that diorama could be the base for one of the long-departed TankNet collective stories. One that could begin like Corporal Hawkeye was watching by the Unertl-made sight of his trusty Springfield M1903 the bramble bush where a young hare had disappeared into when suddenly...
