Matt Urbanski Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) Do you have any good recommendations? I know a couple great ones in Miami, but none in NYC...at least none that are still in business. The one my friend took me to was the Churrascaria Plataforma on IIRC 49th street between 8th and 9th ave. He seemed to think it was the real thing, and it gets pretty good Zagat scores. They also have a second location down in Tribeca, which is usually less crowded but the quality is the same. I like it a lot, and when I ended up taking my parents there for my dad's birthday, my mom who normally is sort of a herbivore actually loved it as well, which is saying something... I've been to a couple of other ones which were ok (nothing wrong with them, I'd paid more for worse food in Manhattan) but not really worth recommending. Shit, now I really want to go again. SALADIN Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Went to one yesterday for my birthday dinner.Run by a group of locals and BrazilliansHad more meat in one sitting than what we normally consume in a week. The lamb, chicken and fish were superbly done, the beef was a bit tough and left some of it on the plate.Didn't touch the chicken hearts though as not used to it . Yeap pretty expensive.
Juan Sosa Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 So, did you get a chance to check it out? Unfortunately I didn't. I had other things come up saturday and totally forgot about the Super Bowl on sunday.... I'll try again next weekend I'm in town, which should be the one after next.
Corinthian Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Chicken hearts=double plus good. My mom used to save out the gizzards for me to eat when I was a kid--kidneys, liver, heart, neck. *drool* How about chicken intestines? That's street fare here called isaw. Put through a barbecue stick looking like a small snake, grilled over hot coals with barbecue marinade over it, sauce is usually just vinegar. I haven't eaten it, but lots do and usually considered as pulutan when drinking beer. (pulutan is generally anything eaten when drinking beer, usually it's some high cholesterol stuff like the aforementioned isaw and sisig). I like chicken liver, but kidneys and heart are too hard for my tastes. I did some googling and apparently Metro Manila has a churrascaria style restaurant named "Brazil Brazil" at one of the upper-class malls. There may be others in the area though. Sounds interesting and tasty, but I reckon I should stay away as it hurts not just the wallet but also might end up killing hypertensive me.
