Corinthian Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Inspired by Tony E.'s photoshopped Merkagavin, and with his assistance, here's the promised and long delayed in-prog pix of the latest uberGavin variant: The kit used is Academy's 1/35 M113 Zelda. I need tracks BTW since the tracks of the Old Lady are missing hehehe The turret is from Academy's 1/35 Merkava III. I'm thinking of updating it to Baz Dor Dalet. I also added a radar from Academy's Sgt. York kit which a friend donated. I'm waiting for the M16 turret with quad .50s from Tony and Shot, will be adding another sensor to that. I haven't installed the 106mm recoilless rifles. The add-on armour and other stuff are styrene. I ran out of styrene sheet (as of yesterday morning - I now got a fresh batch) so I focused on my other project in the meantime. Construction of the Merkagavin will continue soon. Combat reform NOW! AIRBORNE!
TonyE Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 YES!....YES!....AIRBORNE!....YES!.....YES!......YES!!!!!!!(aaaaaahhhhh)
Jacques Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 You people need to get out of the fumes... (On a side note, it looks gooooooood, if you are into "Gavins". )
Charles King Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 That looks like a real beast. It looks like that gun mount will toppel that M113
Marek Tucan Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Bah! We don't need no stinkin' rotors! Every Gavin carries a top secret powerful antigrav device that allows it to fly even to the orbit if needed Great work, Tomas!
Marek Tucan Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 where is the 8" triple turret mount for the TC's station?405903[/snapback]Nah, we agreed that single 8" will do, as long as it will be supplemented by .50 Maxson lavette and 106mm RR's
Corinthian Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 Thanks all. Sparky should be mighty proud of TankNet's acceptance of The MERKAGAVIN.
ShotMagnet Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Tomas, I'll dig around for some spare tracks. I'm trying to remember if my Acad M-163 has both rubber band and ITL; which do you want, if it has both? Assuming I find them, I'll fold it in with the quad parts. Shot
Corinthian Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 Shot: I forgot to post that I found my M113 tracks! The indy tracks I found, but I'd prefer them vinyl ones since the add-on armour package would make it quite difficult to install the tracks (I didn't factor that in! ) If you could still spare some tracks - especially the vinyl ones - please send 'em as well.
ShotMagnet Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Bah. 200mm powergun looks nothing like the MG's 105. Shot
Corinthian Posted December 20, 2006 Author Posted December 20, 2006 *Ahem* Correction. MG's 8-INCH plasma coil condensing particle accelerating railgun.
irregularmedic Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 thanks so much for making the MerkaGavin a reality!
ShotMagnet Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Still digging. Also looking for M-113 (sorry, I meant 'Gavin') tracks. Shot
TonyE Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Thomas, if you get both quads you could mount one on each side of the turret top, that way both left and right sides would be covered with a lethal hail of 50cal bullets, now THAT`s firesupport! (and the marines are screaming for it!)
irregularmedic Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hmmmm http://www.darrelbowen.com/images/vehicle/G.I.Joe-Tank.jpg damnit! I have no idea how to insert a picture under this new system!
Corinthian Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 Hehehe I posted the pic into another forum where there are rabid Sherman lovers. I wonder if anyone of them will build a plastic 1/35 version of the drawing.
Eric Johnson Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 You know I don't know what to say...it's different... Now we need a plane for it...
Eric Johnson Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 *Ahem* Correction. MG's 8-INCH plasma coil condensing particle accelerating railgun. We have those? WoW!
Michael Eastes Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 What about the Quad 0.50 for AA role? I believe the Gavin family carries Sidewinders for AA use. The quad .50s are for firing "spotting showers".
