m4a1 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hi,Harkonnen wrote an article concerning Nakidka. What do you think have to be introduced to be able to fight tanks equipped with it? Is III gen. night vision device enough to detect a T-90 equipped with nakidka? Greetings

Greetings400039[/snapback] 1) find T-90 with Nakidka2) remove Nakidka3) engage T-90 without Nakidka Seriously, some TankNetters argued that said performance of Nakidka or other such camo materials *might be* a matter of performance of TI devices used in tests (performance - quality or even just settings). It is possible that the newest TI are sensitive enough to decrease camo material effectiveness - but it is also possible, that new camos could make target aquisition much harder task.
Red Ant Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Forgive my ignorance, but what is 'Nakidka'?
atst Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 How to fight a tank in stationary position (engine off) and covered with two feet layer of snow?
Przezdzieblo Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 How to fight a tank in stationary position (engine off) and covered with two feet layer of snow?Add ten more feets of snow and forget it... or use artillery. Turning a tank info a bunker got some advantages, but also got many disadvantages. Tanks should do that what they were made to do - ride and shoot. And materials like Nakidka, Kontrast or other (AFAIR there were also something similar made in Israel) is helpful in that task.
Exel Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Thermal camo might make the tank not glow in your thermals, but it most certainly doesn't make it invisible. The tank will always reflect (or absorb) thermal radiation different from its background which essentially makes it visible. Simplified analogy: How do you fight a tank that has camo-colored paint on it?

atst Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 The tank don't turn a bunker, it can let the enemy approach it's position, get some shots of, start the engines and immediatly retreat. Especially effective for an inferior tank force against TI-equipped tanks. Of course it's suitable only for defense and there should be enough snow.
