Przezdzieblo Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 You saw new turrets without "wedge"? Any pic of it? Any change of shape when compared with Leo 2A4 turret with patches?
kinmid Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 They didn't allow "green" tagged visitors to take photos, but this is one from the METKA site. I hope you can see the difference. HAVE FUN !!!
Exel Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) There's definitely something that looks like patching in this picture though: Nice pics btw. I haven't seen the 2A6 turret bare without the wedge armor before. Got any more of those? Edited December 28, 2006 by Exel
kinmid Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) It's not patching actually (my photo I mean). It is something like a "step" let's call it, with about half the height of the patch we have seen in other turrets, but homogenus and solid to the rest of the turret.Anyway I will try and see if I find a better photo, but till then see if this is interesting to any of you. It's a pdf brochure of the METKA company:http://www.metka.gr/en/downloads/2005_brochure.pdf Pages 38 & 39 have photos of the turret under construction. HAVE FUN !!! Edited December 28, 2006 by kinmid
kinmid Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 Ok I found a couple scanned photos of the front of the turret in a small angle, but is shows the area of interest as well. Here they are: HAVE FUN !!!
Przezdzieblo Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Great pics, kinmid! Interesting, it looks like gun ambrazure is still very wide - as in previous Leos - so it could be said that patches are still needed.
Attila Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) It's as pertinent a topic as any to ask a question that has been troubling me for the last weeks: notice that the penetration took place on the side of the turret where the gunner's optics are located. Now, I remember reading one of these "Armour-for-idiots-like-you" articles by Mr. Paul Lakowski where he claimed that universally this would be the preferred (front) side of the turret to hit if you had to fire at a tank's turret front, since the presence of electronics, the need to have cables etc running through that section of the turret effectively means that there's less armour there. The question is thefereofre the following: are the Brits right in putting their optics above the gun mantlet therefore not needing to weaken the turret front armour? If yes, why is no one (even the Israelis with the praised be its name and hallowed its tracks Merkava) else following suit? Edited December 31, 2006 by Attila

REMOV Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 are we sure it's not a monkey model leopard?Trust me, this is a real Leopard 2 HEL turret roundabout. I took those pictures at Defendory 2006 fairs, Athens. And all of you should thank to Przezdzieblo for made me to upload 'em
Vasiliy Fofanov Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Trust me, this is a real Leopard 2 HEL turret roundabout. Yes, but are we sure the Greeks got the Real Thing?
CV9030FIN Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 What the electronic thingies on the corners? Laser warning? No, Laser Radiation Detection Unit (RDU) of BT 46 Laser Simulator (Two-way Tank to tank combat simulation simulator) from Saab Training systems
arcweasel Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 No, Laser Radiation Detection Unit (RDU) of BT 46 Laser Simulator (Two-way Tank to tank combat simulation simulator) from Saab Training systems Thanks.
Exel Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Why is the gun mantlet gap so wide still even though the actual mantlet in 2A5+ is much narrower?
Paul Lakowski Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 are we sure it's not a monkey model leopard? Vasiliy Whats your problem? Oh I get it your're extending this joke.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a15KgyXBX24 very funny
Vasiliy Fofanov Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Vasiliy Whats your problem? No problem whatsoever, just trolling a bit...

jwduquette1 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Vasiliy Whats your problem? Oh I get it your're extending this joke.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a15KgyXBX24 very funny I think I'm gonna head down to the corner drug store and fling some pooh at people -- it's what us monkies do best.
Vasiliy Fofanov Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I think I'm gonna head down to the corner drug store Cornre durgs are sold in stores?
Ssnake Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Cornre durgs are sold in stores? Only if they get paided a bonus.
jwduquette1 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Cornre durgs are sold in stores? Only a human could ignore the semantic differences between the word “theory” and “law”, and then cleverly combine a plethora of visual and aural symbol “evidence” to convey “deep meaning” (The Truth)—all of it based on …Bum-bum-BUMMMM!!!… a false premise. This video wasn’t made by a monkey…just an illogical dumb-ass. Bet he got an A in film class… (I’m using the “A” in this case as a symbol of excellence…which is semantically different from the one used in dumb A-hole). IF Darwin is correct, AND, the monkey pushes the nuclear detonator button, THEN the last words of our videographer of, “Oh my God…” will be as pointless as this video. IF Darwin is not correct, THEN somebody will be spending eternity toasting marshmallows for The Red Guy’s S’mores. And now I’m going outside to fling more pooh at the neighbors…cuz that’s what I do…
Przezdzieblo Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Why is the gun mantlet gap so wide still even though the actual mantlet in 2A5+ is much narrower? It is because it is `base` turret, with no add-on armour. Actually all Leo 2A5+ turrets also got so wide mantlet ambrazure, and special armour addons (said once somewhere on TN to be RHA `bricks`) are making it narrower.
Vasiliy Fofanov Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 IF Darwin is correct, AND, the monkey pushes the nuclear detonator button, THEN the last words of our videographer of, “Oh my God…” will be as pointless as this video. IF Darwin is not correct, THEN somebody will be spending eternity toasting marshmallows for The Red Guy’s S’mores. Hey, that was pretty good!
