Solid_Snake Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 The hardest bloody battle ever fought in WWII was Berlin. Period. (400,000+) They say Stalingrad was the bloodiest 600,000+ But if you want tank action, the massive onslaughter ocurred during Operation Budapest, 10-20 October 1944, where King Tigers of the Panzer Div. "Feldherrnhalle" had an obliterating duel with JS-IIs. Each side had tremendous looses. Just picture taht in your mind... Could someone give me more info about it?
Dave Clark Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 The following book might be of interest to the German readers on the Forum: Golla, Karl-Heinz. Zwischen Reggio and Cassino: Das Kriegsgeschehen in Italien im zweiten Halbjahr 1943. Bernhard & Graefe Verlag, Bonn, 2004. ISBN 3-7637-6255-8 I have not read the book but, quoting from a review, it covers combat from the Allied landings in in Sept 1943 until the German withdrawal into the Gustav and Emil positions new year 1943/44 The book covers activities from battalion to division level and apparently fills a number of gaps in the reporting of German activities. The book is also apparently well provided with mapping, photos and organisational charts.
