  1. Has anyone else noted the 'new' scale 1/56 land military kits - figures and vehicles - released by Italeri? I am presuming that others will follow suit. I understand that 1/32 / 1/35 may be a bit large for wargaming. But are great for detail and us with old eyes. Tamilya and a few others have released a range of 1/48 kits - figures, vehicles, artillery etc, which would seem to be a good compromise between 1/35 and 1/72. At least they can be used alongside 1/48 scale aircraft. Figures are small, but still able to be reasonably detailed. But now - 1/56 WTF? If 1/48 is too big why not just go to 1/72? Or is there some strange market out there? I can understand 1/35 - 1/32 A tall human is 2 inches / 50mm tall. 1/48: A tall human is 1.5in 37mm tall. 1/72 - 1/76 A tall human is 1 inch / 24mm tall. (and can be used with 1/72 aircraft and are a good scale for war gaming. So why 1/56? I can understand Revells release of a range of 1/144 scale US and post war German vehicles, as they work with the Landing Ship Medium, and there are 1/144 aircraft kits, and a very few figures available. But 1/56?
