  1. I have been somewhat fascinated with vending machines since I was a small child below the age of five years old. When I used to accompany my father to the YMCA as a little boy there was an old soda vending machine there that when you put your quarter in, a cup would drop down, then ice, then a stream of soda syrup would shoot in from one side while a stream of carbonated water shot in from the other side. Mixing perfectly in your cup, at least in my young opinion. Later, older, I discovered one of the same ancient models cranking out sodas in the cafeteria of the hospital where my mother worked. I always made it a point to get a soda from that machine when I stopped in to see her, until they removed it in a renovation. The interior mechanical Rube Goldberg complexity of some of the old machines is really fascinating. Their designs, and the style of artwork for advertising are also something that stand out. http://youtu.be/Ee_JPhpC8Jc http://youtu.be/4qNdPtBxXCE Now they even have a vending machine that makes and bakes you a pizza. Which you can watch most of the process.
