I'm interested in having a look at firing tables for tank ammunitions, especially the ones during the cold war. But they are hard to come by online. I will be very grateful if anyone can share some. 🙏

I ask this due to the factor that NERA works on similar principles as ERA and with the tip being designed to not send any energy imparted onto the tip through the rest of the round that would mean that it wouldn’t be affected by the expanding affect of the NERA which would reduce its effectiveness when compared to other rounds that don’t have a tip. In just a few years, 6.5mm Grendel price has plummeted from $0.85/round to $0.25/round: http://ammoseek.com/ammo/6.5mm-grendel Military uptake is still very limited, so where are vendors finding the economy of scale to amortize manufacturing costs? Who is using Grendel ammo, and for what?

Reading http://ciar.org/ttk/mbt/papers/propellants.x.new_energetic_materials.krause.2005.pdf I was struck by the capability disparity between triple-base propellants used in modern small arms and compound propellants which have been used in rockets for decades. Even diluted with binder, a propellant based on Aluminum + NH4ClO4 offers 5x the J/g and 6x the J/cc of modern triple-base propellants like M30, and can be shaped to tailor a burn rate producing a more desirable pressure gradient. Why don't we see aluminum-burning rifles with 6000+ fps muzzle velocities? If this morphs into a discussion of small arms propellants in general, I won't be sad.

I was surfing the net, reading the latest celebrity news or whatever, and I chanced upon this link: http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA039156 to a US Army study on folded ammunition. Now, this is a fairly kooky idea: But one that would seem to have a lot of merit when applied to tank guns (a possibility mentioned briefly in the paper). Shortening the breech would free up a lot of the volume over the center of the turret ring, and allow for more gun depression with a lower turret roof.
