You should absolutely research any org you consider donating money to. MADD do not rate that bad on charitynavigator.org. with 73% used on programs, but they might have sucked before. To get this back on track, if I had donated to Firefighters Charitable Foundation which spends 7% percent on programs and 88% on fundraising I would want a 76, but I guess a 57 or even a 30 might do.

That is obviously a big problem. In Norway we had a big scandal with a group called SOS Racism, which had forged its membership records to get more funds, and the leaders had also siphoned off those funds to use them privately or in another communist / anarchist group. On the other hand I think it is wrong to accuse Amnesty or other organizations of that until there is proof of any wrong doings. Innocent until proven otherwise. The only Amnesty people I have come into contact with was the local org in Norway, and that was all about political prisoners and nobody asked for money. Of course it would be just as wrong to say that the org is gtg based on that. I think leadership getting to many benefits is something you have to be cautious about in all larger non profit organisations. There has been cases of that in both leftleaning, rightleaning and religious non profits that end up using a very small percentage of donated funds to actually help. I am basically just reacting to what I perceive as calling out amnesty based on nothing.

Could you elaborate on this? Except the one case of overpaying staff that quit, I dont see anything backing this. How is if people go after you a viable metric on if something is worthwhile to do? Every politian and news station bitches about people that don't go after them. Fox news tries to influence public opinion, but you don't see IS going after them. Did you have use for them before? Was your neighbour holding the postman as a political prisoner? Just come out and say that you think they are smelly hippies.

Or someone heard the word 'Akula' and got the wrong end of the stick. Just a thought like. First thing I thought about, but they mention one specific typhoon class submarine, Dmitri Donskoi. A SSN would atleast be possible.. My theory is that the russians have taken an angle grinder to the poor typhoon and made it a "wet" boat for when you need to insert a brigade worth of combat divers to aquire surstrømming.
