  1. It's going to be the latter and they will cheerfully quote the "fringe" publications they crapped on who have been reporting it all along. Probably with a dash of "it suddenly got so much worse just now when he wet himself" added in to provide additional cover.
  2. I honestly can't tell if our elites are more stupid than elitist. There are so many examples of decision makers and what have you not just practicing the opposite of what they preach but seeming legitimately confused when it is pointed out to them. I mean you literally have people like Pelosi at her fundraiser or the glitterati at the Emmy's who not only are not following mask mandates but have servants who have to wear color coordinated PPE. This is the literal definition of lording status over another so it has to e purposeful. It is fascinating to see the self proclaimed advocates of the working and servant-class treating them as intentionally dismissively as any Victorian nobleman.
  3. Well sure, but they have obviously done some benching and curling, throw in some freaking squats and deadlifts.
  4. I've never served in the Federal government; is there some sort of prohibition against squats and leg presses? Or are the narc-types just heavily against leg day?
  5. Actually, I give them a lot more credit than that. They undermined her foe's entire presidency, set the whole federal deep state against him, and seized the chance to alter voting rules and laws to defeat him. Unlike Republicans, Democrats actually use their rage to beat their enemies instead of dropping sound bites and high fiving each other for their utterly useless antics.
  6. You have heard of Hilary Clinton, right? I know that she is an obscure public figure but she still hasn't admitted it and has claimed it was stolen. You also may have heard of Al Gore? Stacy Abrams? Any of these names ringing a bell?
  7. I'm still utterly mystified at how quickly avowed feminists have decided to support men beating the shit out of women if it provides them brownie points with the woke mob. A man who was a dedicated athlete from childhood, served as an SF medic and goes and gets castrated four years ago after his bone density, CV endurance, and muscle anatomy had been long developed smashes a woman who spent 10 years studying boxing and MMA after he had been training for a few months. And the woke folks think this is peachy keen because to argue that it wasn't would damage their arguments to the leftists. Which kind of points out that these people don't truly have principles of standing up for the weak and threatened, they want power to wield and authority to lord over others.
  8. It's already happened. There are numerous reports of people going to central and south America for treatment.
  9. It is totally reasonable from a patient perspective. It is fraught with risk as the prescriber.
  10. Never happen because the foundational practice theory of medicine has changed over the last 30 years or so. Today everything must be validated by some over-group (FDA, AMA, NIH, etc) to be brought into the patient. Otherwise the liability risks are enormous but also physicians trained during that period have no been trained in the observe/treat/gauge/reassess model. In a situation like this there is simply no adequate time to get appropriate data to reach a firm conclusion and, as long as the jury is still metaphorically out, there is no over-arching approval to provide guidance to the physician. You can brute force it like the vaccines but nobody was going to spend vaccine development money without profit guarantees; you don't go from a 1.5 billion dollar investment spread over 7-10 years to a 3.7-5.5 (speed costs) billion investment concentrated in one year unless you are guaranteed to recoup the cost which isn't happening. The monoclonal antibody treatments squeaked through because they were already running large clinical trials and it was fairly easy to simply expand the sample analysis to cover Covid as well. Minimal additional funds for the possibility of significant profits. Because of the profit motive (and be fair, a company can't risk it's entire future and workforce on a whim and a prayer) cheap and simple drugs are simply a no-go. Physicians could use them for off label but they are no longer trained to approach medicine from an experimental perspective and their liability risk is huge if they do. Which is sad, because we won't know for 2-3 more years definitively if Ivermectin or whatever actually worked and we have reframed the medical community to not risk using anything until those assurances are there.
  11. I don't think you need to be vaccine developer or epidemiologist to do a reasonable risk calculation. You have a known variable (fatality rates for one's demographics and comorbidities) and an unknown variable which is the risk of a novel compound to said demographic. At that point it's risk tolerance; are you more concerned with the known or the unknown variable?
  12. I have found them to be very fragile and prone to breakage so I would leave it rolled up and safe. Flatten it for a few days right before he is going to attach it would be my advice. When he gets to the application stage, I found this useful: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=162503
  13. Yeah, this was my daily moment of dumbassery.
  14. Dammit, I had a whole head of steam built up and you threw facts and reason at me. Jerk.
  15. Feel free to delete this oh mighty MODERATOR if I'm breaking any rules but I posted this in the Trump thread but it seemed appropriate to post here as well since this type of question has been raised and I actually had some real information to share. I had a chance to dig into it with some medical organizations. I don't know about other organizations but here is what I have been told. 1) key point, there is no wifi in Afghanistan. Many of those volunteer people have access at best to a Sat phone and many areas those only work if you climb a mountain. So they are not working with current and updated information at all. 2) Many of the medical personnel (probably others, my sample set is skewed towards them) are jaded, they have been told that the Allies are pulling out multiple times and it never happened. Many of them at the beginning did pull out and watched the projects or patients that they were working on fall apart while they were gone. One friend told me that she had done that when she was working with an 11 year old girl with a high risk pregnancy ( don't ask, the details are way worse than you are probably imagining). They withdrew when Obama announced the withdrawal of combat troops in 2014. She went back in and the girl had miscarried and was subsequently beaten to death. Those people are not leaving unless they have no choice. 3) They have been officially told that the Afghan military was capable of resisting the Taliban and was trained and stable. They believed it. All those cheerful intelligence reports from our alphabet agencies and military? That's what these people were being fed as well. They believed them. 4) worst of all, they had been repeatedly assured that when the Allies pulled out that they would not be at risk or left behind. So even if it all went to shit they wouldn't be forgotten so it became a calculated risk. I have a French former colleague and he is beside himself with rage at the US because we pulled the rug out from under our allies. According to him and a friend in the UK I don't think the average USAsian has any clue how angry our allies are at Biden and us. We f*cked them so hard and fast we should have put it up on PornHub and charged money for the video. To our shame, the UK, French and Germans (and Japanese, though that's second hand maybe information so could be wrong) sent military and secret squirrel folks in throughout Afghanistan to get those folks out while the US has not. Demonstrably has not as my French colleague has shared that French guys went in and pulled their citizens out of a region and their US colleagues (different village 30 miles away) have still not been heard from in the US but they had been talking via courier while they were still on the ground so they weren't dead when Kabul fell at least. Their families have not heard from them. I'm really tired of this bullshit rape defense that they were asking for it because their metaphoric skirts were too short. You had a bunch of people in a shitty part of the world trying to help people and our government and military left them to die so Biden could get a photo-op on 9/11.
  16. I'll ask a simple question that if Republicans had any ounce of courage and capability they would have already asked and answered; where is the list of Americans left behind and why is it not running at the end of every newscast. I looked at GOP.com. No list. Plenty of banners asking for money and clips from Youtube. Where is the list of 100+ names? Where are the heart-wrenching biographies of some of them? Where is the video on their daughter or parents tearfully asking who is going to get the US citizen out? Where are the families of those left behind escorted by Republican elected officials outside the capitol and white house?

  18. Not really, I was referring to the Republican candidates.
  19. How so? As a non-sterilizing vaccine the data seems to be emerging that those who have been vaccinated are capable of both carrying and transmitting the virus. It makes contracting Covid far less hazardous to them which is a huge win but it does not make them safe to be around the unvaccinated.
  20. Most likely because the "antivaxxers" here and elsewhere aren't antivaxxers, they are antivax-impositions. I'm not anti-mastectomy but I would certainly be against government or employer mandates that all women past child bearing age have their breasts cut off. However, it would save 1 out of 8 women an avoidable and hugely expensive to treat disease (second most common for of cancer) and potentially save ~50,000 women a year. Same arguments for the massive impact on health care costs and cost to society. I'm open to the informed counterarguments so if anyone wants to dig through the data, the safety testing protocols and open areas. Feel free to start here and discuss how the cardiac abnormalities already extant in the first year will not have their safety evaluations until 2022-2025 https://www.fda.gov/media/151710/download Then dig through Pubmed and the FDA websites to find out when the DART studies will be concluded and evaluated (reproductive risks to mother and fetus). I'm sure the people arguing that there is no reason for vaccine hesitation have carefully dug through the pre-clin and clinical trials data and can confidently discuss the liabilities or lack thereof in the current safety program status. I certainly don't know everything in this area and would be happy to learn more about the safety assessment nuances of a novel EUA derived vaccine! g
  21. The voting population that actively supported candidates who wanted to end the war and who did not support more supposedly popular candidates who were pro-continuation.
  22. I can make an argument that while there is a fair amount of clinical data that indicates those seem to do something positive it is certainly not conclusive enough that I would be comfortable presenting it to the FDA as a study director for a formal IND or off label exemption. We simply don't have the longitudinal data for formal regulatory advisement. With that said, there is nothing that is fully approved that seems to help so the propaganda march against them I think is socially criminal.
  23. To be fair, this is an area that Shapiro is an idiot about. Not about whether we should have left Afghanistan but his petulant refusal to realize that he and his supporters on the left and right were completely unable to convince the populace to stay there.
