Vassily, some people said that Soviet's tank can not rotate, that is to say the transmission system do not support the reverse movement of two tracks. Is it true? Also, some people said that there are two gear boxs in T-72, one drive wheel one gear box, is it right?
waste a lot of money! today, there are too many kinds of combat vehecals in chinese army or in lab for sake of money. projects and projects just like poker cards! we always joke the Soviets' third generation T but it seems that ours are much more.
hello dear Hark, long time no see. I have seen one pics of T-80U(M,M1,M2???) the turret is more likely welded. http://russianarmor.info/ At Vassily's site, I presume that it is weld turret. (The Kirov Plant modernization proposal for T-80U MBT at VTTV-99)
right only when 100mm smooth anti-tanke gun enter into servise in mid-70 could we defeat T-62's turret swiftly. Type 1973, with APFSDS. Like Soviet's MT-12 gun.
cause at that time, we cant not penetrate it. In today's standerd, T-62 is little better than T-55, but in 1969 the different is big. In another words, it is according to the penetrator. My words APFSDS is not exact for there was only AP or so in China at that time. The hardness and the shape of T-62's turret do make trouble in old days.
This is chinese Type 88 tank(called Type80 at first). This tank is totally different from T-62 as far as the basic concept is concerned. It is more like M60 for at the end of 70's China was nearer to westen countries. But the turret is T-62 like for Chinese experts was astonished in 1969 as most Chinese APFSDS and RPG can not penetrate T-62's turret in north east of China.
