Traditionally? I dont think so. Turreted tank destroyers are the minority. Also, I dont consider modern western wheeled "light" tanks (Centauro, Type 16 MCV, etc) as tank destroyers. (as far as I know neither the Japanese...)

War in Ukraine, technical and military aspects only
old_goat replied to bojan's topic in Military Current Events
Any combination is possible. You just have to make sure to set the memory unit properly. -
Good news, more and more reports state that Pokrovsk is finally liberated! There are also rumors about mass surrender of ukrainians in the Mirnograd pocket. Also, liveuamap reported that the ukrainian military began abandoning its positions in certain places of the front near Gulyapolye. Beginning of the end finally? But hey, #ukraineiswinning!!

Nothing to see here, move along! Nothing wrong with zionists, they are not evil, and they are not controlling USA... Of course not! If you believe otherwise you are an antisemite!
-
And that is why it will never succeed. Because as you said: "global western hegemony". This immediately makes the globalists the leaders again and we are back to step one. Alliances of a few countries (like the now dead V4) are okay, but when one superpower (USA) is dominating, then it will not work, because it will force its will on its vassals.

Thats because you do not understand how the world works. It is actually much harder to find communists than you would ever think. What you perceive to be "communists" are the globalist elite who dictate everything in the "western" world. Scum like the antifa, BLM, feminists, anarchists are basically misled, brainwashed, weak minded people, used by the above mentioned elite to "divide and conquer". "Liberals" and "Conservatives" are both playthings of the globalists, and neither side realizes this due to the extensive brainwashing campaign. There is no "evil left" and "good right" in the western world, only globalist capitalists. They are the real enemy, not the "communists". And its the most funny (and sad) thing that the woke leftists, who frequently call themselves "communitsts" are so stupid that they do not see that they are actually the most useful servants of global capitalism. So yes, you are talking about "anti-western filth", and you do not realize that this group, the globalist capitalist elite is the most western thing ever invented. So much about your "correct western global order". True communists realize the above* and they would never support movements like antifa, BLM, feminism and such. Actually I have talked to some of them, and asked their opinion about the "woke left". All said basically that they would immediately send these morons to Gulag. Inversely, if you would send a group of woke leftists back in time to a socialist country, they would think they arrived in nazi germany. * Nationalists (NOT conservatives!), like myself too

You are talking about wars as if they were a good thing... If you love war so much, then why dont you travel to ukraine, and join their armed forces? Perhaps it would be indeed good if you had some real experience about wars. Then you would know that its not good at all... Sure, thats why they were so desperate that they had to begin using weapons of mass destruction (Agent Orange & co), and by doing so committing severe war crimes?

Turkish arrest warrant for several zionist leaders! Not just Bibi, but others like the literal nazi Ben Gvir and Israel Katz too. "Palestine hailed on Saturday Turkish arrest warrants against 37 Israeli officials as a victory for justice, calling on other countries to follow Ankara’s example. The warrants issued by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office target senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Army Chief Eyal Zamir, and Israeli Naval Forces Commander David Saar Salama. “This courageous legal action represents a victory for the principle of justice and an embodiment of the will of free nations and leaders rejecting the policy of impunity that some countries have granted to Israel,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement It stressed that the move “also reaffirms the universality of jurisdiction in confronting war crimes and crimes against humanity.” The ministry said the measures taken by the Turkish judiciary reflect “an advanced legal and moral stance and send a clear message that those who commit crimes against the Palestinian people will not escape accountability, regardless of their positions.” https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/turkish-arrest-warrants-for-israeli-officials-victory-for-justice-palestine/3738705

A bit more on the topic of soviet stabilizers. On the same youtube channel, there is another demo from Patriot Park, this time a T-55A. The turret rotates faster than the official value in manuals, but strangely, only in stabilized mode... WTF is going on??? 1, at 5:35, static, ~18 sec for ~270 degrees (24sec/360, 15 deg/sec) Its the same as in the manual. 2 at 6:26, static, same result, 3, at 6:56, stabilized, cant really measure since tracks are slipping for several seconds, but the turret turns noticeably faster. Still only took about 20 seconds for ~330 deg rotation. 4, at 7:37, stabilized, ~13 sec for ~270 degrees (~18 sec/360, 20 deg/sec). Looks like its the limit, because the turret starts to lag behind the hull (also noticeable in the first attempt) @Stefan Kotsch Since you served on T-55, what is your opinion about all of this?
-
I think it is close to original condition. Soviets didnt really care about early T-10s after the much improved T-10M arrived. Also, they made barely 200 T-10, 140 T-10A, and 20 T-10B. Compared to this, they made 979 T-10M and 100 T-10MK tanks.

Do not get me wrong, Im not somebody who says the usual BS "the tank is dead". No. I fully believe that tanks will become effective weapons again in the future. But not now. Currently there is no solution for the FPV drone problem. Not in Russia, not in Ukraine, not even in the west anywhere. Shooting them down is the easiest thing. Detecting them in time, thats hard, and still unsolved.

A question about soviet tank stabilizers... Most sources including technical manuals state that the max turret rotation speed of the Meteor stabilizer is 16 degrees/second. Also lots of western sources ctiticize soviet tanks for slow turret rotation. But recently I was watching some random videos, and I found one about a demo of a T-62M. (2025 September, Park Patriot) The turret rotates incredibly fast compared to the official 16deg/sec value (22.5 sec for full 360) even with stabilizers on. So what is the real maximum turret rotation speed of these tanks? In the video below at 21:16, ~270 degree turn took only 14 seconds. Then, at 22:11, the tank turned around with stabilizer, it took 18 seconds.

Seriously, who the hell cares about tanks anymore? They are completely irrelevant in current drone age. Even if Russia lost all of its tanks that wouldnt matter at all. A dirtbike or an ATV has more combat value today than a tank.

Abuse, rape and torture is a common practice in Israeli prisons. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/evidence-shows-palestinians-executed-after-torture-vehicle-run-overs-prisoners-office/3732160 "Medical and field evidence accompanying the handover of Palestinian bodies indicates they were subjected to summary executions following torture, restraint, and being run over by military vehicles, the Prisoners’ Information Office affiliated with Hamas said on Friday. Earlier in the day, 30 bodies of Palestinians released by Israel via the Red Cross arrived at Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, bringing the total number of bodies handed over since Oct. 14 to 225, according to the office. “Traces of torture, handcuffing, burns, and crushing by military vehicles were found on their bodies,” the information office said in a statement. “Keeping the bodies in refrigerators and burying them in the so-called ‘cemeteries of numbers’ reflects a deliberate policy to humiliate Palestinians, both alive and dead, and constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.”
