I would not get too worried. To me, it looks like the British Labour party reloaded. They foolishly decided to have the chairman elected by "popular" vote of all party members. Throw in a sudden influx of new members and apathy of some old ones and Comrade Corbyn was elected. That won ended poorly, for the British Labour party. The US radical left winning Sanders the nomination is IMO winning Trump the reelection.

Since the cabins are off the grid, squatters would be surprising, bears less so. Looking for food and ransacking the place.

You sort of answered that yourself. Corona and US domestic politics, climate change and fires in Brazil/Aus, an earthquake in Japan and shutting down nuclear plants in Germany and whatever else can be instrumentalized for ones goals.

To avoid any misunderstandings, the intention is not to replace the 1920 pattern machine carbines that are already in service. By far most of them are used by militia and service troops, followed by gun crews. Infantry is a very, very distant third so far. The longer effective range of 7.63 MMC makes machine carbines much more viable as infantry weapon in combination with the others. Reports from Paraguay indicate the M1935 is an highly effective infantry weapon. Perhaps only in comparison to their bolt action rifles but in that case the M1935 would be a useful addition to reserve infantry units that are not getting the new M1933 SRL any time soon. For logistical purposes the M1922 of mortar, anti-tank, machine- and infantry guns crews would have to be re-barreld to 7.63 too but the bulk of the 1920s would remain in 9mm Luger. We could make a few hundred for extended troop testing with regular, reserve and militia units. -

Just something I got a glimpse of, Italy overreported cases severalfold.

Stop giving the Goths a bad rep. Apparently they were very civilized looters. Being Christians they left the churches and people inside alone and the city itself standing.

I'm shocked, shocked, that you as a Briton did not know better and mistakenly expected me, a humourless German to be capable of ... that! Not being serious aside, the madness of the perp is being underreported beause it would interfere with the "right wing terrorist inspired by the AfD" narrative. Which is but another chapter in the anti AfD hysteria, that has members of the chattering class act like it's January 1933. ... OTOH, if it were 01/33 they'd be all sucking up to the AfD. And that last part is sarkasm.

So what? Only the Good die young, we'll be ok. Can I bring a plus one? A recently retired neighbor is interested.

Huh? Didn't I say that his dad being a Green is meaningless with regard to this crime? So is what football club he trained with years ago.

In the west the party structure is more entrenchend having been around since after the war. In the east there was de facto but one party, the communists, so aside form the Linke, noone had voters that followed this or that party for decades. The one party that is doing rather poorly in the east are the Greens. They advocate abstaining for all sorts of things and that doesn not go down well with a population that remembers not having creature comforts like in the west. PS: Actually the Greens advocate that only the 'poor' people should abstain from meat, mobility, light, warmth and so on. They want all this to be more expensive and since the Greens are upper class they have the money to afford their current lifestyle even if it costs them a bit more.
-
Distraction form the lack of an actual connection to the AfD?! Obviously the fact that his dad was a Green is meaningless.

The SPD are the social democrats. They used to be a classic center left, working class party, now they are just left and cater to the left that is not the working class. There they compete with the Greens and the Linkspartei(=commies, ex East German state party). The CDU used to be conservative by German standards. Pro life, pro draft, pro nuclear power, anti uncontrolled immigation. Under Merkel this has been reversed one by one as she stole bits and pieces of the SPD's and Green's agenda. Her MO is to look what's controversial and than not do that! Feelgood, follw the herd, do what's popular is, that's her. When she sacrified monetary stability by pumping billions into bankrupt Greece to rescue the Euro, the fiscal conservatives had enough and started the AfD. The AfD remained a one issue party and was barely above the 5% threshhold until Merkel decided that protecting borders and doing the asylum process by the lawbooks was controversial and simply opened the borders. That catapulted the AfD into the 15% range. Way more in the East. Acc. to the MSM because the backward Easterners haven't learned democracy and tolerance, others say because they have lived in a dictatorship long enough to recognize something is wrong when all the political parties more or less agree on anything and the media applaude and enourage the government. If you read their platform, they are what the CDU used to be pre-Merkel. Of course there are the Nazi allegations but they have been there ever since the party's foundation, long before immigration was an issue. IMO the MSM and old parties just don't like anyone who fundamentally disagrees with a left agenda*. *Back in the 80s that used to be the CDU and the MSM poured buckets of hate and ridicule on the CDU and their boss Kohl. The FDP is also well hated by the MSM because they are pro captalism(by German standards). But right now the hate is directed 100% towards the new bad boys. Who have some actual bad boys in their ranks but the hysteria is orders of magnituge bigger than any real issues.

Codewords for what? One man, German citizen = immigrant background investigation in all directions and he was known to the police = Muslim terrorist The words don't always mean that but they are used when the perp is an immigrant and so on.
-
According to the MSM he might have had "psychological problems". The bit of information could also have an additional meaning given that the insanity of the Hanau attacker is downplayed, so he can be portrayed as a typical right wing extremist.

Hamburg elections: The Tagesschau (official state news) won the premature ejaculation contest. Shortly after 6 PM they reported the AfD out based on an exit poll. Guess what, every hour the counted votes came in the conservative opposition was doing better and better, going from 4.7 to now 5.3%. What makes all of this even more funny is a hard left paper like Die Zeit choosing its words way more carefully, like they knew opposition supporters would keep a low profile in public. Anyway, SPD lost a lot, CDU about 2/3 as much and the eco radicals are the big winners. https://wahl.tagesschau.de/wahlen/2020-02-23-LT-DE-HH/index.shtml

Discussed this with BansheeOne when we met on Saturday. We're both up for this! I think I can do that weekend too.

I fully agree that our machine carbines would benefit greatly from flatter shooting ammunition but a locked action takes things too far. That would turn the machine carbine in a rifle, with all complexity of one but for an overpowered pistol round. That does not look not cost efficient too me. 7.63 machine carbine does. https://postimg.cc/zL0xFMJP As you can see the bullet drop is almost reduced by half, without any added complexity. A big and rather cost efficient improvement in my option. Not a perfect solution as there is still half a meter of drop but machine carbines were never supposed to be perfect, just good enough and cheap. The M1935 in 7.63 are cheap and highly regarded by the Paraguayans. And now to business: Добар дан! You have a small arms problem? Too many non standard, obsolescent and obsolete rifles and not enough money to standardize? Lokomotiv Tankov can help you. Two decades of continuous development have culminated in the 1930 series of semi and full automatic pistol caliber carbines. The inline stock and the compared to a rifle round very mild ammunition result in negligible recoil and allow for very fast follow up shots. Now accurate up to 200 meters. With ammunition that can also be used in pistols. For closer combat or intimidation of unruly citizens we offer an optional bayonet lug and the butt of the plywood stock is protected by a stamped metal cup, so the stock isn't damaged, say when you hit a very unruly citizen with it. The perfect firearm for gendarmes and non infantry units. And oh so inexpensive. Ups, thats the price we charge the Americans, who are filthy rich. For you its less. ... Interested? ... One, two batches and a production license? PS: We could pull a string or two to have the 20,000(?) M1916 Mausers surplused early. -
F..penetrating hulls! Shoot at the conning tower of a surfaced sub with max fireworks to make it submerge and then use your speed and other adavanteges.

Probably, the guns were usually* not land based versions of naval guns but inhouse army designs and their 12" gun did fire a substantially heavier shell then a naval gun of the same caliber. 1,067 vs app 850 pounds. *Some of their 16" were naval guns intended for ships canceled under the WNT.
-
When did they develop that 3" AP round? 1940ish for anti submarine use or was it a pre WW1 relic when 3" was still an anti surface gun?
-
75mm HESH is very borderline stuff, it would have changed practically nothing. Not enough spalling, no Ersatz AP killing the big cats.

That's why APCR too so long.
