  1. Last reply Feb 10 - 2010, this thread is not that old ... Anyway, I was hoping someone could tell me the name or author of a series I am looking for. The premise of the series was that one set of aliens were fighting another set of aliens. The first set were losing because it was made of mostly peaceful non-violent races. The second set was able to indoctornate there subjects so any alien could kill. The mostly peacefull aliens find humanity and use us to fight the war. Am I talking madness or is there any chance someone remembers what author / book series this was? Thank you, Bluelight
  2. I know a few Hmong personally, and I take the viewpoint we owe them one after Vietnam. *although, my solution would be to take their entire population group and relocate them to the US *Hmong are great, yea they do make big mistakes (turning the basement into a fish pond comes to mind). However, they are very hard working, I never met one that did not speak english, and they educate themselves fast.
  3. I hope no ones gets in trouble, looks like a bad mistake. -- Bluelight
  4. If Zumwalts cost as much as an aircraft carrier, why not just buy aircraft carriers?
  5. This guy is guilty of murder. No question at all he committed a crime. No question at all this crime made the world a better place. If I was on the jury I would not vote guilty. Not sure I would vote innocent, but I would not vote guilty. -- Blue
  6. My prediction of the future tank: Crew removed from the turret / automated turret Only the Crew area is extensivily armored, the rest of the tank is designed with redundancy instead Self loading large bore gun using conventional chemical explosives to shoot the projectile Autoloader on gun capable of unloading weapon / reloading it with differant types of large projectiles (sabot, heat, HE, canister) Active protection system, backed up by heavy armor for crew compartment + redundacy for the rest of the tank (similiar to helicopter) Smaller crew allowing for smaller crew compartment allowing for less armor and less weight Electric drive for redundancy, ability to drive on road wheels if need be Digital cloud type network used for everything, including voice com Hud systems showing where you and your allies are Ability to interface with remote sensor systems My prediction on what we will not see in a tank in the next 50 years: Any coilgun / rail gun tech of any type Use of active protection systems for a primary protection role, instead these will be used more like bonus protection ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as robotic vechiles, I do not see any of those taking the role of the tank just yet. To huge problems with them as is: 1. To stupid 2. Human in the loop liablity 3. Remote control vechiles seems to lack awareness of what is around them
  7. That probably would have saved the lives of a great many Pakistani soldiers. Better late then never, but I do worry that the Pakistani's may not have the political will to follow through to the end. If they give AQ + Taliban another cycle to rearm / retrain it will be even harder next time. If they run that cycle to many times it may end up with the AQ + Taliban being stronger then the Pakistani army. Truely a scary thought to think about.
  8. I hope the Pakistani's win! RIP to all the dead Pakistani soldiers, and I feel for all of the wounded Pakistani soldiers.
  9. go Korea! *wonder if we should just buy it from them? -> then again, I like the 25mm stand alone launcher idea more. I remember comments about the 5.56mm rifle being pretty weak on our version due to the extremily short barrel, that may have been false though. Didn't we also have a problem with the lethality of the 20mm grenade being quite weak?
  10. Yes, its a new cold war. This is a very bad thing, many people died in the previous cold war, which really was not cold at all.
  11. A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon your talking real money.
  12. change: const bool hideASATCapability = true; to const bool hideASATCapability = false; all done .
  13. I would imagine the congress critters might object to this idea just a little bit. ... at least I hope they would.
  14. It would be difficult and expensive to do the regular cleaning on them.
  15. I give you the ultimate combat battle suit in true Japanese tradition! No other weapons platform utilizes cuteness as a primary attribute.
