Most Steel AR Mags are ... ***t. I have some CPr***** SS ones, that are stronger, only slightly heavier than GI Alu ones. You can make a Steel Mag with 1/3 of the material thickness of Alu ones ( theoretically! ), so you may get more room inside. But there are Sterling and South Korean and Taiwanese Steel mags, that have a stellar reputation! IMO a rifle has to be DESIGNED for plastic mags ( = AUG, G 36, ... ), then you may use enough material thickness, and you have a good mag. In the AR platform, there´s hardly enough room inside the mag well for plastic mags thick enough. Hermann

Hello! I am NOT modelling at the Moment, but preparing to start again with that nice Hobby. My question: As a favourite Topic of me is the Cold War and the small Wars of the 60´s, 70,s, I am looking for several FN FAL ( SLR ) rifles. Who makes kits containing them in 1 : 35 ( and good Quality )? Metal would also be fine! TIA, Hermann

'tin Can'? Gold Can More Like It. Zumwalts Cost Another Billion
Arminius replied to shep854's topic in General Naval and Air
May I ask, what´s the state of Zumwalt affairs now? Surely it would have met some serious weather by now, how did it fare? How far respectively are the three Battlecruisers in service? Hermann -
Nashorn was thin skinned ( the Tank, that is ;-)), and therefore was a support arm, well kept out of first front line ... whereas the Jagdpanther and Tiger II had very thick armour for the thick of the Action, therefore more losses ... Hermann

I would assume an experimental fume extractor for the 75 mm ... Hermann

IMO this year would / should have sported most impressive MODERN thingies ... Putin showing off ... NEXT year will be 2nd WW Triumph ... yes, maybe some relics ... Hermann

I would be interested in number of cylinders and cubic capacity, too. ( Abrams, yes, I know ;-)) And minimum fuel consumption at idling / hour, as well as realistc consumption / hr at, say, 3/4 power. Hermann

Will there be anything new on this Years Red Square Parade? I´ll BET Putin will put on a REALLY big show this year ... Posted in AFV Forum, as I like to see Tanks more than Missiles ... ( a little more, only a little ) Hermann

Non U.s. View Of The 5.56 X 45Mm Ammunition?
Arminius replied to 17thfabn's topic in Weapons other than Tanks (WOTTs)
Hahahaha !!! NOT the weapon ist at fault, if it overheats, it´s the AMMUNITION! Well, of course!!!! Gun alone would not get very warm, indeed! How the weapon HANDLES ( with ) excessive heat, that´s the question! Hermann -
what are the light streaks in the ATGM Launcher tube?

Hahahaha - in Vienna there´s the "Mezzanin" also! Between Ground floor and first Floor.

A Military Parade on Dec., 24th ... clearly tells, which side Turkey is on ... No Place for them in the EU!!!!! Problem is, there are too many of them already there, and our dumbdumbdumb Politicians granted them Citizenships - dumb, dumb, dumb. And they breed like rabbits ... :-((((((( Hermann

Yup! And that´s IMO the same Approach, that Tank Designers use ... Somewhere between 0 and 45 Degrees off line ... This, of Course, should NOT include the Turret. Hermann

IMO it´s a VERY good field knife. The "Klick" on drawing or reholstering may be silenced with a bit of Training, easing away the locking Piece. The sheath should be replaced by some Nylon variant: The Problem with the sheath is the rigidity between the blade sheath and the belt Loop. VERY good blade design! For the Price get one ( and a Fenix LED AA cell lamp ) for any place / car / Emergency Setup that you can think of. Hermann

Ordered, Thanks

IMHO the correct angle for improving Armor is not 45°, but around 20 or 30° from Head on. Which results in a slight Angle on ( hopefully thick ) frontal Armour, and large Angle on thinner side Armour. But if there are MORE enemy Tanks around, you don´t need to "angle", somebody will get an angled shot at you, anyway. Hermann

IMHO the Luchs was EXTREMELY good at across country going .. and also in getting back ... ;-)

Your Least Favorite/most Disappointing Gun Brand
Arminius replied to BabyOlifant's topic in Weapons other than Tanks (WOTTs)
Rem 7400 ( Woodsmaster ). .30 -06 UNBE-fu**ing-believable, what time, money and energy I spent on that gun! Gunsmith´s ( Trigger ), Mags ( Eagle, Ram Line, Triple K, Pro Mag ) ... POS POS POS Would only cycle with HOTTEST loads. Trigger sucks, even after firts class Gunsmith Trigger job Some mags even won´t stay in the mag well. Plastic mags would work fine slowly by hand, just do spill rounds ( double feed, if in rifle ) ON FIRST TRY. Metal mags would ONLY feed FMJ´s with pointed tips ... and even those only occasionally. POS the SHI**iest empty mag bolt catch solution ever devised! Any removal of forearm will kill your Zeroing in! Kilometer long leade, which is good for low pressure, but not good for handloading accuracy. POS Did I mention POS? Simply forget it, Hermann
