  1. In return for receiving federal funds, the insured would assign their right to collect on their insurance and to pursue claims against any 3rd party to the federal government. Subrogation agreements like this are quite common.
  2. We did Fort Gaines in the morning of October 14, took the ferry to Fort Morgan and did that in the afternoon. USS Alabama was a full day on October 15.
  3. I don't think there is a ferry from the USS Alabama to Fort Morgan. When we were there, we took the ferry from Fort Gaines/Dauphin island to Fort Morgan, both of which are worth seeing.
  4. Last time we rented we used Sixt. Decidedly mixed reviews, but we had a good experience. YMMV however.

  6. Damn. Visiting here is high up on my bucket list. Tornado Ravages Air Force Museum Restoration Hangar At Wright Patterson AFB
  7. I have roughly 100 issues of Warship International, from 1966 to 2011. Is anyone interested in giving some or all of them a good home? You pay postage and they can be yours.
  8. Glad you enjoyed it. Canada is a great place to visit and live.
  9. I hardly ever use cash anymore, mostly credit/debt cards. Exchange fees will vary. Stay far away from the bureau de change operations you see in the tourist areas. Banks generally give the best exchange rate. If you want to see a bit beyond Niagara Falls, then Niagara on the Lake is worth a visit. It's a half hour drive from the falls. If wine tasting is your thing, there are many good wineries in the Niagara region.
  10. Tim, don't forget that your dollar is worth more in Canada.
  11. What are the recommended and minimum system specs for Starfield?
  12. We went to Iron Mountain rather than the main hot springs. It was less crowded and looked to be less overrun with kids. We're off to Montreal and Quebec City this weekend. I'm looking forward to the Citadel and the Vandoo's regimental museum in Quebec City.
  13. Spent a week in June in Colorado. 4 nights in Denver and 3 in Glenwood Springs. We had a great time. Denver is an interesting city with good museums and a great theater complex where we saw The Book of Mormon (highly recommended). Wings over the Rockies and the Colorado Rail Museum were also very good. Glenwood Springs was a nice break. The hotsprings were spectacular as was the scenery. We would definitely go back, although if I never drove I-70 again it would be too soon...
  14. It's both a national and a local police force. In all Provinces except for Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland, it is the provincial police force. It also provides contracted policing to cities, with cities less than 15,000 paying 70% of the cost and cities over 15,000 paying 90% of the cost. The federal government pays the balance.
  15. I can pretty much guarantee that they weren't. Strangely enough, despite the name, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ("the Mounties") do not have any operational mounted units. There is the Musical Ride, which is where the escorts for the Queen's funeral and the King's coronation came from, but that is strictly a ceremonial unit and has no policing function. I assume you are referring to the incident that took place in Ottawa where a female protester was allegedly stomped on by a horse. That officer was from the mounted unit of the TPS, not the RCMP. The incident was investigated by the Ontario Special Investigations Unit and it was determined that no serious incident had occurred. She was bumped by a horse after getting too close, but by no stretch of the imagination was she ridden over nor was she injured beyond a bruise or two. Your second paragraph is simply gibberish.
  16. I don't know. This looks awfully like a CIC to me, even though the RCN calls it an Operations Room.
  17. What is the difference between an Operations Room and a CIC? I always thought they were different terms for essentially the same thing.

  22. Wouldn't something based on the Bombardier C-Series/Airbus A220 make more sense? The Global 6500 platform is awfully small for a long range patrol aircraft.
  23. Just started season 2 of Slow Horses. Very good spy drama staring Gary Oldham.
