that is surprising. is 5083 aluminum that weak, or was it non-penetrating scabbing that caused this? i know that m113 sides are 44mm al on the upper. and 32mm al on the lower. 5083 TE values as i have them are 0.41 vs .50 cal, which means the sides should according to these values be 18mm and 13mm vs KE. even russian V-95 should be able to barely resist 7.62mm AP with TE of 0.34 as the values would then be ~15 and ~11mm according to inetres, 7.62mm AP is 7mm@300m and M80 ball is 4mm@300m.
