that is surprising. is 5083 aluminum that weak, or was it non-penetrating scabbing that caused this? i know that m113 sides are 44mm al on the upper. and 32mm al on the lower. 5083 TE values as i have them are 0.41 vs .50 cal, which means the sides should according to these values be 18mm and 13mm vs KE. even russian V-95 should be able to barely resist 7.62mm AP with TE of 0.34 as the values would then be ~15 and ~11mm according to inetres, 7.62mm AP is 7mm@300m and M80 ball is 4mm@300m.

dunno, without the extra weight of the turret you can apply more armour for the same weight.

The wire just sends the steering signals. the beacon on the back of the missile "tells" the computer where the missile actually is. so basically: beacon shows where missile is > is it in the center of the sight? if not, move the missile until it is in the center of the sight.

T-90 front turret armor penetrated by TOW-2A: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYOJSz1WOEg&feature=youtu.be impact point seems to be in roof somewhere between gun and sight. seems like it possibly could have hit and went straight through the roof ERA. but i suppose that is expected given it's got 900mm penetration vs homogenous steel on roof. i guess it also shows the failure of russian design ideology of putting all the armour at 35 degree angles left and right instead of armouring the centerpoint and making sure the damn front roof is protected.

does the M60A3 have the range displayed in the TTS sight?

does anyone know whether late T-55A in the 70s and 80s had 50 or 60 round ammunition cans for the 12.7mm gun? afaik T-55AM could mount both DShK-M and NSV.
