  1. Hey Damian. You are one of the main reasons that this Grate Sight tm went Down the drain. The noise to signal ratio went through the roof after you joined. I cant belive all the drivel you are producing here, and even less that the admin (bless him and the panths he is wearing) tolerates you. This: " And it's obvious for anyone who have at least avarage knowledge about tank design around the globe" is a grave insult to one of the greatest tankers and tank designer ever, Israel Tal. At the same time you elevates yourself to a tank expert, while being nothing more than an less than average armchair internet expert. For this alone you should be banned from this place. You have never even been near a Merkava 4, you have no credibility whatsoever in this matter. Jeezez what a shithole you have made this place. To all others, sorry for this rant, there is a reason that I havent made a posting here for a long time, and as this place have been invaded by retarded self proclaimed experts whit small penis envy, I say good bye.
  2. Yes, I forgot about that hangar. But technically I guess I can claim that I was inside that hangar too, since they have built a toilet facility at the rear end (pun intended) of the hangar... Jim, quite different from the photo above, as you probably know. But only on the outside of the two hangar rows, on the right part of the photo above. Some old torn down, some new built up. About 1000+ photos. Sadly half of them crappy mobile shots because of battery in camera. Im real busy at work now, but will try to post some in a week or so. Any particular vehicle?
  3. Its not at Kubinka. I was there a couple of days ago.
  4. That assumption is made by our local "expert" Damian. He has absolutely no clue about the armour on the Merkava, he has never even been near a Merkava tank. He is basing his "expert" opinions on photos he has seen on the web, and from there on guessing his ass off, trying to sound like an authority on the matter. Fact is, he knows nada about the subject. Besides, some guys at MANTAK has actually printed out a couple of his posts here and pasted them up on their boards, just to get a good laugh...
  5. wendist, Pictures were not taken at Latrun, but at Tel Hashomer. There are no buildings like that at Latrun.
  6. A question, and my apologies if it has been answered before: I just downloaded this game, and plan to give it a try. But do you People use a joystick to pilot the planes, or the mouse Controls? I grow up playing aircraft sims on pc, allways used a joystick, and I know that this isnt a sim, but piloting with a mouse is kind of turn off for me...
  7. Not Mossad I think. More likely Aman. :-) It could be some sort of a probe connected to the transparent dust cover, extending back to the missile body making contact just outside of the seeker head, its function being to push out or break the dust cover when the missile being fired. So I guess we have covered all possibilities by now, and someone have hit the proverbial nail on the head... BTW, the laser device on the missile launcher is a banker, I think.
  8. If we compare this small aperture with the apertures (single or multiple per seeker head) on the new ranges of 2.75 inch SALH rockets, I think the size matches. You would probably need a larger seeker head a la Hellfire or Nimrod for aquiring a lased target at longer range, but you could guide the missile to an aproximate position using the optics, and then let the laser take control for the endgame. I havent seen this aperture on any of the photos or illustrations of the Spike ER missiles fitted with a HE warhead, and for sure not on any fitted with the HEAT warhead, so I dont see the reason that this should be a fuze. If they didnt give the missile an air burst or daisy cutter mode, that is. They could well have done that, since a lot of the targets engaged with the Tamuz/Spike NLOS are soft targets more or less in the open. It actually makes perfectly sense. But for now I will stick to my theory of this missile being an optically guided missile with a secondary SALH capability. OTOH, I was wrong once in the past, so... Perhaps Andrew is right. Its just a sticker on the transparent dust cover. And we are guessing our asses right off...
  9. Ah, makes sense. Does it? If the target is being lased, why fire expensive optiics/datalink at it when you could use something cheaper and less vulnerable to jamming, like a Nimrod? Or, why worry about designating or ranging something that the missile's optics have already acquired? The combination of being in the missile nose, but having a limited field of view and no gimbaling makes me think of fusing more than some sort of seeker/designator. CaptLuke, you are assuming that the laser on the firing unit primarily is for the firing unit to lase targets for its own missiles. If its a laser unit on the launcher or a laser homing sensor on the missile, that is. Knowing something about the IDF mindset, I respectfully disagree. If the launcher is in the middle of shit and has fired all its missiles, or the target need something with more bang than the Tamuz or Spilke NLOS, then for a minor added cost of a laser targeting unit on the launcher, you have the possibility to call down precision fire from air or other groud units. If its a laser ranging device, you would be able to better decide the exact position of enemy targets for engaging by other air or ground units. If the small aperture on the head of the missile on far right is a laser homing sensor, it would make perfectly sense also. When you guide the Tamuz/Spike NLOS you have only seconds to decide where to hit. If you have a forward controller unit, a SF unit or an UAV following a target for a much longer time, it would be easiier to hit a hidden or small target, or a target hiding amongst civillians, if the target is lased, than if the Tamuz/Spike NLOS operator need to guide by optics. Apologies for any spelling errors, Im writing this on an iShit 5 on vacation in the US.
  10. Sardaukar, most likely a laser, either a rangefinder or a target designator.
  11. Not neccessarily a new generation missile... My hunch is that it is a SALH sensor i addition to the optical/video sensor. But who am I to know...
  12. Andrew, I wouldn't know for sure. The IAF has ordered active laser jammers for at least a part of their helicopter force. The Tzefa in my photo could be one of the first to receive the production version of the laser jammer. But he IAF doesn't have to many Tzefas, so if they allready started to roll out the laser jammers half a year ago, I guess we would have seen a lot more of these by now. So my guess would be that this is a test example.
  13. Charles, it is impossible to see what kind of warhead a Tamuz or Spike NLOS missile is equipped with from a head on view. What we are seeing here is actually two generations of missiles. The 5 left ones are from one generation, the single right one is from another generation. Of the 5 left ones, the missiles with orange seeker heads are thermal imaging guided, the missiles with transparent seeker heads are optical/video guided. The right one I only have have an opinion about.
  14. Answered here before: http://www.tank-net.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37672&page=2 Post no 35. Edit: Incidently I made a post on page 1060 on that thread on mp.net explaining exactly what this is, a Spike NLOS equipped Tzefa with a horn antennae for the radio/datalink guidance of the missiles. The post, together with the last photo in your first post here, was quickly censored after an Israeli member pulled the Secret Squirrel card... Photos of this Tzefa configuration has been on the net for a few years now, and its not like you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what this stuff is...
  15. I changed in my Gen 2 Glock 17 for a Gen 4 Glock 19 some time ago. Perfectly happy with the Gen 4. In my opinion, a good step up from the Gen 2. Grip fits my hands better, and softer and less noticed recoil. I have changed the original trigger connector for a Ghost Rocket 3.5, which makes the trigger pull much better. I also changed the slide catch for a longer one (suiting my hands better), and changed the mag release catch for a sligthly bigger one. I am also going to change the sights, probably going for a set of Speed Sights with Tritium inserts.
